Thanks Barry for the post.
Would be interesting to know who the trainer was that approached Mr. Evans.
Very interesting Barry.
I used to play a horse racing video game called Derby Owner\'s Club. You had to breed, train, and race your own horses, and the data for each horse was stored on a card that you took with you for future racing or breeding. There were national tournaments and it was a lot of fun to create your own unique breeding lines, stable silks, etc...
Then one of the players bought a credit card reader, cracked the programming, and figured out how to manipulate the horse stats on the cards. He created super horses and immediately won his first tournament. Within a year or two, a once thriving game was completely dead. There was no point in investing time and money into your stable when someone could just program a super horse.
I hope racehorse DNA is tougher to manipulate than the hexadecimal code Sega used for that video game.
There was also a link put up here a while back to an article about a new class of drugs that dealt with calcium. I wonder if anyone remembers where to find that, or has heard any more about it.
Next month I will attend the United States track and field trials for the 2008 Olympic Games. It will be 10 glorious days of athletic trials in Eugene, Oregon. I have been to many Olympic Trials since my first one in 1956.
But I suspect this may be the last one I will be able to enjoy, as the merd appears ready to hit the fan.
Both of the sports I love are under incredible pressure to survive because of cheaters.
Everybody\'s fun is on the line.
Mr Irwin,
It would be interesting to know who you think is cheating and how it is being done ?
Due to your love of the Olympic sports, I know that you are well aware that there is a long history of proven cheating, and that has been due to more advanced testing that catches the violators.
However, in the Olympic Games the cheaters are stripped of their medals, prize money, and banned from the game.
