Richiebee,
Did you phone in your wagers or get them in early? I\'m doubly sold on Twins Spires after the NY OTB fiasco. How was living room downs?
Twin Spires was down for an hour before post as well, at least from my vantage point. Tried to call as well to no avail.
Wow, really? I had placed my wagers early in the morning and didn\'t know-Ah, well-you can\'t fight progress- The servers probably crashed due to the enormous amount of information being processed at once. Another good lesson to learn. I\'ll keep trying to get mine in early. Another thing is that it\'s hard for me to be brave and spend a lot of my meager shillings to cover my wagers since I am a working woman. It seems too frivolous to me- so I either have to throw caution to the wind or be confident in my decisions. I prefer the latter alternative. It is far more sane. I did think about all the distance runners-Had I spread my super key as I thought, I would have done well also. But I stayed within my means, and chose another horse over Eight Belles, and that\'s all there is to it. Maybe next time I\'ll go in with some friends.
Girly:
I wasn\'t aware of any OTB fiasco. I made OTB bets Friday at the OTB branch at
45th Street and 3rd Avenue (always fun to listen to the one time a year bettors
trying to make their selections by name) and was able to make bets using OTB
internet wagering from Living Room Downs during the Derby card.
Heard a radio report today which says that all NYC OTB branches will be closed
a week or so after the Belmont Stakes. NYC should study this situation
carefully because 5 or 6 well positioned, upscale, teletheatre like facilities
could probably be quite profitable.
Capitalotb.com issued an apology this morning for the mess yesterday. I could not get through on the phone or via the net for about 45 mins before the race. Once the Derby was finished the site was back up and running. How bad did it get in NYC and near-by?
