Every years, IMO most people say it\'s the most wide open Derby ever. On paper, it does appear that most have a chance. The only question for me is Polly or Synthetic to Dirt.My approach this year will be too find out, who is going to run second too BIG BROWN. In knoe particular order here is my approach.
1. Pyro: Hate the pattern and only if if rains I will use.
2. Gayego: Nice at 2 and nice now, but certainly will be an underlay, maybe even 2nd or 3rd, choice.
3. Colonel John: Very nice horse and sheet, but Synthetic? Not taking my chances at 5-1 or less on a horse, that hasn\'t run very fast yet.
4.Tale of Ekati: Not sure what too do,here. I will say this, my betting partners use other spped ratings, that would make you hate him. TG, makes him look like a player. But very solid at 2.
5.Recapure: I am sure he will have know chance. But he will be 40-1 and he is as fast as the Colonel and was faster at 2.
6.Z Fortune: This guy finally ran a fast one, but had all day to get past Gayego. His pattern reads bounce too me.
7. Smooth Air: Very fast, but maybe a sprinter. Best 2 year old pattern and his last is only 3 points from his 2yr old. Did have a fever and might not get in.
8. Cool Coal Man: I toss the Blue Grass!! He ran faster then the Colonel at 2 and in my opinion will easily be 30-1. Gimmick player!
9.Visionaire: Decent at 2, but only fast number was in the slop, like Pyro.
10.Bob Black Jack: I wish I thought he could get the distance. But he did rate in the SAD.
11.Denis of Cork: Only race at 2 was solid. I believe he had way too much time between races. A player for me in the 2nd and 3rd spots.
12. The rest are too slow and I will take a solid stanced against POLLY FEVER.
