SC -

Congrats.  Your call was a lot better than Trevor\'s.

Right on, bit player.  I was tired and decided to just lay on the couch and listen to the race rather than watch.  I thought Electrify(who I bet on) was gonna win and then poof! Trevor is still very good, but Durkin is the King-I still hear him calling Wild Again in the first BC Classic!

Considering how Denman walks on water out there I was wondering if I would still get paid............

Silver,

Granting Mott is a real horseman, do you believe he\'s found an edge lately?

Title: Re: All Speed All Day at SA-Curlin Is All But Gone
Post by: Silver Charm on January 27, 2008, 06:16:45 AM
Two of the three winners were on Turf. That is his edge.

The third winner Go Between ran on All Weather. Go Between would not have beaten Motts other winner War Monger

This years Breeders Cup Classic is betweeen Go Between, Student Council and Air Commander and will be run in 1:54 and three.

Curlin will never lay his hooves on the matted concrete they have at SA now. And this will be another devastating blow for the Breeders Cup one year after catching a terrible break with the weather at Monmouth.

The name will be changed to the \"Breeders Cup less than Classic\".

Things just get lower every day..................

I\'m actually starting to like the Santa Anita surface but won\'t shed any tears if I decide the Breeder\'s Cup is a pass.

Mott is a fine grass tutor, but he has been unusally effective in some of the big races lately. By lately I\'m going back just before Saratoga and including that meet. If everyone else cleaned up, I would not be surprised to see Mott scoring these types of wins, but I don\'t believe everyone else has cleaned up.

Chuck:

You have to define \"lately\" more scientifically. The graph of War Monger,
downloaded from the RBR,shows that Mott has a 14% strike rate (only 37%
in the money) in the last 90 days (on the other hand 27% of Mott\'s runners
ran \"top\" in the same 90 days, although the sample size is not the same).

Question for TG crew: Why no \"Last 30 days\" trainer stat?

As the youngest trainer ever admitted to the Racing Hall of Fame,as a trainer
of multiple BC winners, as one of 2 trainers on major circuits to have
maintained a 20% win percentage between 1986- 2006, as a meet leading trainer
at probably 9 or 10 different tracks (including Saratoga maybe 10 times) it is
fair to say that Mr. Mott found the edge quite a while ago.

I think the BC is going to be a fiasco no matter what happens with the track between now and then (unless the new polymer fails and they decide to go back to dirt). At least some percentage of horse players are going to reduce their average handle that day because there\'s going to be so many uncertainties about who can handle the track and who can\'t. At least some owners and trainers are going to question the wisdom of running their top horses over an unknown surface and damaging their horses\' reputation and value. I see no upside to this for the industry at all. If you can find a serious bettor that can\'t wait to bet on those races because of all the likely confusion about surface preferences and fully expects their handle to rise for that reason let me know. If you can find one eastern based trainer trainer that can\'t wait to find out that their dirt champion can\'t lift a hoof on the stuff let me know.

Hmmmm,

Not sure what you\'re implying P. Eckhart.

I linked to the thread and after a quick skim I did not see Mott implicated. I did not listen to the audio as you and sighthound suggested. If Allday says on the audio that he works for Mott as you are implying, there is still a question of timing. If Allday has been a vet for Mott all along, there is a question of whether Mott may have kept a tight leash on him. Allday juicing both barns for years is not credible on the records.

The problem is Allday is not credible at all and things out of his mouth are quasi facts.

Chuckie, enough with the Allday rants. I gave you his contact info the week after the Breeders Cup so you could ask him any questions you so desired. I believe Barry Irwin did the same that month. To my knowledge you have chosen not to speak with Allday face to face or even voice to voice. Spin it any way you choose.

First off, I don\'t have time to listen to archived audio files, but any careful reader ascertains implications.

Are you really saying that a statement by Allday that he treats for Mott should pass without critique or commentary? Haven\'t you tuned in when the host here and most of the board has argued strongly that \"Vet of Record\" be included on the program?

Lastly, you said you\'d approach Plech with some questions and then backed out when the heat was turned up. I know those guys aren\'t generally going to corroborate their own mischief, (excepting Allday the brain surgeon of course), but once again you\'re creating an illusion of cooperation that the cheaters are not cooperating in.
