Just got word that the entire management team at Laurel was just given an hour to get off the premises. Can\'t verify it as true yet.
Heard the same thing around 12:15pm.
The entire Laurel team has probably been reassigned to market Frankstro\'s
energy drink, which all Gulfstream trainers will be required to sprinkle
on their horses\' feed...any horse testing NEGATIVE for Frank\'s elixir will
be DQ\'d...
The extensive medication dialogue currently ongoing on the TG board is quite
stimulating (bad choice of words) but I fear we are, to use one of my favorite
terms, \"fixing the drapes on the Titanic\".
Racing as we know it is marching slowly towards extinction. We\'ve let Racing
fall into the hands of thieves such as Robert Brennan, \"visionaries\" such as
Frank Stronach, and egotists such as NY\'s Governor Steamroller and Joe Bruno.
And anybody who thinks the 30 year extension of NYRA, without a cogent business
plan which will repair and grow Racing in the State, is the answer, is taking
a short- sighted view.
The old guard racing patrons who had the money, clout and connections to save
Racing are gone (think Mellon, Vanderbilt, Whitney), and while the story about
the \"everyday people\" in the Karakorum syndicates was warm and fuzzy, these
folks do not seem in any position to bring the needed stability to Racing.
Hollywood Park slated to close (much more valuable as commercial real estate),
possibly to be replaced by Los Al or Fairplex... NY Racing facing a crucial
\"drop dead date\" on December 31... Racing in Maryland obviously not stable...
\"It was midnight on the sea/
the band was playing
\'Nearer my God to Thee\'/
Fare thee Titanic/
Fare thee well...\"
The article in DRF was short and cryptic, saying he left effective immediately to pursue other opportunities. I don\'t want to start more speculation on the board, but it sounds like there\'s quite a story there. If a story happens and publications do not report it,can anyone hear it?
