Title: Z Humor's last work
Post by: MonmouthGuy on October 24, 2007, 04:28:20 PM
I just got through watching 5 hours of \"The Works\" that I had Tivo\'d.  Did anyone see Z Humor\'s Monday work at Belmont?  He basically quit in the stretch while working with one of Mott\'s filly\'s, Sunday Holiday.  The work was so bad that the TVG crew was discussing whether Mott would scratch him. His TG figs look pretty good and Mott\'s barn has been extremely hot, but after watching that work, my gut says \"toss.\"

What kind of importance do you place on a dreadful final work before a race if the horse is otherwise playable?

Personally, I try not to read too much into works, but a bad work is more meaningful to me than a good work. I didn\'t see the work so I don\'t know how bad it looked, but I considered Z Humor a borderline contender so for me it would be enough to turn me off of him. But if Z Humor was a horse I really liked and I thought he would be a good value I\'d probably ignore the work and trust that Bill Mott knows more than the crew at the works.

...except that Mott was disappointed by the work and a filly ran away from Z Humor the last 1/16th.
