Title: Synthetic Substances and New York Racing
Post by: richiebee on July 25, 2007, 05:53:22 PM
Opening Day-- A. Dutrow, son of Buddy Jacobson(?), Patrick Biancone, R. Dutrow
all with wins.

I am not one of the DRUGS IN RACING!! conspiracy theorists, but of the above
four named trainers, you have one who has been excluded on two continents (and
is currently under investigation here)and another who has served in excess of 7
years of cumulative suspension time. Racing seems to be as serious about
cleaning up its drug problem as a teenager who tells his/her parents that
he/she will clean their bedroom.

For those of you too young to remember or too old to remember, Buddy Jacobson
was probably the single most enigmatic figure in the history of New York
racing-- a high percentage miracle worker as a trainer, a highly political
figure on the backstretch who was suspended for organizing a strike of
backstretch workers, accused of killing the lover of his ex girlfriend (a
beautiful fashion model), convicted of said murder only after he managed an
unlikely escape from the Brooklyn House of Detention.

Son of Jacobson ruled off track for many yrs for Starvation of Huggable Tom,or should I say \"alleged starvation.\"Suddenly back in full training mode,I guess money talks and anyone can get a licence these days...Sorry, was there back in the day of Huggable Tom,seen it with my own eyes....He was also,as the news reported, involved in his dads great escape...changes really need to be made before there is any type of level playing field..
