Title: Preakness Odds Line
Post by: jimbo66 on May 15, 2007, 03:43:51 PM
Anybody seen any futures betting on the Preakness?  I haven\'t seen anything yet.

Here is an odds line that I worked out, assuming a 16% takeout.

Street Sense  1-1
Hard Spun   3-1
Curlin  9-2
Cirular Quay 10-1
King of the Roxy  15-1
CP West  30-1
Flying First Class 30-1
Xchanger 50-1
Mint Slewlep 50-1

I think you get value, if you want to take a shot against Street Sense.

depending on the post draw (and sometimes they enter a few pigs) s.s. could be as high as 8-5

I occasionally did the morning line at Delaware Park in the late 90s.

I\'d make it a bit more like this:

Street Sense 4-5
Hard Spun 3-1
Curlin 5-1
Cirular Quay 8-1
King of the Roxy 20-1
CP West 40-1
Flying First Class 10-1
Xchanger 50-1
Mint Slewlep 50-1

In the Pick Four.

I think Hard Spun and SS will go off much closer than 1-1 and 3-1. There are enough people out there that think HS ran a tough opening half mile and will appreciate the shorter distance to think he will take some extra money. Still others think that SS won\'t get another rail trip. I think many people will think these horses are closer than that.

He could run a neg 1 and still be off the board. There\'s already 3 horses in the race who have run that fast or faster.
