Title: Any Tips for Saratoga
Post by: Superdave on August 13, 2002, 11:45:46 AM
Does anyone have any tips for playing Saratoga?  Track biases?  Jockey/Trainer combos?  workouts to look for?

Ignore all published workouts. Just about every trainer with a live longshot is working their horse fast on the farm, and slow on the track. Also, the turns are much tighter at the Spa than at Belmont. Several horses who closed to win at Belmont have come flying too late at Saratoga. Although closers can win on all three Saratoga tracks, I would move up the stalking types with inside posts, and use caution when playing the one run types with outer posts.

And don\'t drink the water from the Big Red Spring it tastes real nasty.

I\'ve stayed out of this so far, but I have to say that I\'m having a very good meet using nothing but figures, patterns, and trainer profiles.

TGJB,
I havn\'t had a chance to follow the Red Board room; how have the Spa analysis picks been doing?

A mixed bag. Yesterday and Sunday were bad, but Saturday was good. Frankly nothing spectacular.
