After viewing video re-plays all last nite,seems to me there are 2 horses that look somewhat better than the rest.
Obviously Curlin is the monster,but short odds and even shorter experience will cause me to by-pass the 2nd coming of Secretariat.
Great Hunter looks like a great win bet on video.
Heres\' what I saw:
Video of race March 3 showed no boring in from fatigue.
Keeneland race showed he was bothered in stretch twice,first was bad,second just knocked what little was left out of him.(that competition should not even be considered for any of the runners)
So...I get a 3rd off the lay that hasn\'t shown improvement over 2yr top.And don\'t forget that for last couple /three years there has been some question as to the weak #s coming out of the left coast prior to Derby.

I\'m not certain that Great Hunter was going to win even if he wasn\'t bothered. He didn\'t have more momentum than SS at the point he was bothered. At the very best, he was running even with him. More likely, he would have finished in the photo, but not 1st or 2nd. That doesn\'t mean he can\'t win Saturday, but I would feel better about the play if I thought he was best in the BG. As it is, he\'s one of many horses with a reasonable shot.
Great Hunters pattern took some time ( and races ) tailing-in to the #2 and might be inverting the cycle now when coming off the top .
imo- his numbers seem healthy and speak well to his ability to run back or run a new one sometime , but will probably need to run a number somewhere between a negative -3 and a 0 on saturday ...

ON VIDEO...CURLIN /GREAT HUNTER appear to be physically/mentally ready to win big race at age of 3.
