Title: Storm Cat - # 66?
Post by: shanahan on April 18, 2007, 06:23:00 AM
well, I was shocked looking at the BloodHorsre sire rankings last night....Stom Cat - $500K, no guarantee - is way down at the bottom...a quick perusal of sire\'s big winners indicates that Storm Cat may not be equitable for the future (polytrack) surface of racing...glad to see \"Chubs\" (AP Indy) at the top - lots of grass in those lines, and I\'m guessing poly as well.  Won\'t effect the Triple Crown obviously, but the breeding folks have ot watching this very closely.

Shan,

It is early but there are alarming stats that generally show that nickle bred stallions are outrunning the big stallions on Poly. It may be way to early to tell but everyone can now see how well turf runners do on poly.Whether that is just a temporary abberation or not is being followed carefully.

Since all poly\'s are not playing the same(nor do dirt surfaces), it may be a matter of tweaking to get some consistency. The day after the Bluegrass debacle, 1.16.3 for 6f, a ten claimer went 1.10.3 in the last race route, that\'s a 1/16 mile better(30 lenghts) than GR 1\'s. Good luck handicapping that!!

Neither Storm Cat nor AP Indy, America\'s top two commercial sires, have fared particularly well on the Poly.
