Race 5 is a very interesting MSW. Baffert is sending out Silver Light who he is very excited about. He ran once back in July at Dmr and should like the extra distance. Biancone is sending out the millon dollar Fusaichi Pegasus colt, Time Squared for the first time. He\'s trained only on Poly tracks TP, KEE, and Hol so it will be interesting to see if he can do well on dirt. Several in here have races under their belts and have just missed at this 1 1/16 distance. Winner here could be a factor on the Derby Trail.
Baffert\'s Silver Light is a half to Strong Contender.
Time Squared\'s dam ran tops of \'14\', \'8\', \'5\', and \'1\' from ages 2 through 5. you can see why Biancone is starting this one late at a route.
the 3, Fortunate Victory, also has a nice pedigree, being a half to \'0\' runner House of Fortune.
two or three others also look like runners.
nice race.
Time Squared is the one that intrigues most.
the La Brea came up strong.
squallacious could be a good one.
\'8\' to a \'5\' on first two, then ran in a pretty fast grade 2 just 11 days later.
did well just to pair up.
half to a negative \'3\' sprinter.
perfect post and light weight.
looks like the post time favorite though ...
anybody see anything else?
Les Ry Leigh in the Le Brea looks interesting to me and in the Eddie logan - was fast Optari , might be fast again is another ...
solid # power with Les Ry Leigh. last a bit hidden too.
trainer change interesting. racing form shows $0.46 Roi (26 starts). TG shows $4.77 with 29 starts. am i reading something wrong here?
still, looks like a decent pick. fast pace here, solis could get a nice staking/closing trip from post 5.
BALANCE........................1st race Redstone Arsenal at 100/1
the last couple days , so cal has been showing signs of a comeback . imo , it was good jan -feb in \'06 . it\'s not easy to see trend in early stages of development but i\'m optimistic and encouraged for the current so cal meet ... anyone else notice anything at SA recently ?
although it doesn\'t look too good to be true on saturday , i\'m hoping to play a win bet in that fillie race on Les Ry Leigh and also use her in the 2nd leg of a dd starting race -6- w/ Optari ...
Michael, we\'re going to check the ROI figure from our end.
After looking at this race CLOSELY (SA 5th 12/30), I thought Pointing Star (Point Given-Stubborn Star) had the best shot/upside to crash the party at 25-1. So...I bet him across on the stretch out.
Watch his trip and tell me what you think of him. I don\'t think I\'ve ever seen a more adventerous 1 1/16 trip for a young colt. Bad step and almost fell about 100 yards out of the gate, checked to last, ran in spurts down the backside, loomed into conetention on the far turn, got fanned like 20 wide, then ran like a good thing down the lane to finish 4th.
I will bet him with both fists next out. Might be a MONSTER.
I\'m going to take a strong stand on Time Squared.
I doubt the figure will come back fast, but he was held up pretty well by Leparoux (what\'s new), and finished with all kinds of energy (final 1/16th in :06)
should love the longer distances.
makes the early top 10 (along with Biancone\'s other late starting FuPeg/AP Indy - Ravel).
