Title: IMO Bad Job NYRA
Post by: richiebee on November 02, 2006, 11:04:29 AM
NYRA runs a 7 race 5 stake card on Breeders Cup Day.

First Post, 11:35. Post time race 7, 3:27P.

Never thought it was good business for a track taking
the BC simo to run races which interfered with the
main event.

Might have been a better idea to run a nearly all stakes
card on Sunday. The races certainly would get more attention
and action if not run against BC.

At least they might have NOT run the two non-stakes races that
begin the card Saturday, to minimize BC overlap.

Bee,

You are right and they know it.Problem, they are on fumes as far as cash flow and are facing down the politicians re filing bankruptcy.

Mike

P.S. easy for you techno-geeks to disparage the technologically challanged people like me.I have to wait for a hard copy delivery in Brooklyn or I\'m shut out.

Miff:

I am far from a techno- geek. Those books that say
they are for dummies are way over my head. You can see
from this and previous messages which are not for-
matted that I haven\'t mastered the idiosynchrocies
of the wife\'s laptop, which was forced into service
when my hard drive went kaput.

I just loosen the death grip on the mouse, hit some
buttons, and wait for something good to happen.

As I have said before, it is unfortunate that NYRA\'s
problems will also be problems for all racing.

Richie,
This is one of the few exceptions where I\'ll defend NYRA over your IMO.

The Aqu races are scheduled to run in the big gaps between the BC races and they should get more attention because of the extra people at all the various locations for the BC.

Sunday is a fair option but speaking for myself and from past experience, no matter how I do in the BC and how much I enjoy the day, I\'ll be depressed when it\'s over just because it\'s over. Taking in a few NYRA stakes the next day would probably make things worse. It would be like finishing the bottle of McCallans and all that\'s left is bud light. I\'d rather sober up.

cheers

Flushed:

Do you believe that all Simo locations which
take AQ will show races/ accept wagers on the
part of the AQ card which overlaps BC?

As to the Sunday after BC Saturday, my feeling
in certain select past years has been to \"get
right back up on the horse...\"

I guess blindly assuming all locations would be taking all the AQ action is a mistake, but I don\'t know why they would not. Then again, applying logic to figure these things out is usually the wrong approach.

If Adult or Professional Supervision of NYRA were ever to kick in - this weekend would have been optimal ... Conflicting post times with BC  is inexcusable + bring the NY stakes card out Friday before or on the Saturday after the BC  .

I for one disagree.  I LOVE races in between the BC Card.  Those forty minute waits are out of control and this gives me something to look at.  Two Thumbs Up NYRA~!

Well if post times for the Aqu & BC races are co-ordinated so as not to be in conflict with one another , that couldn\'t be the wrost thing  ...
I wish NYRA could figure out how to take and maintain a national and international leadership role in racing . New York does it in most other area\'s - so why not Racing ?

Hey look on the bright side..At lease you\'ll have Tom Durkin calling the live races this year, at the NYRA extravaganza on Saturday.

I thought Tom gave up The Big A and Larry Collmus had the gig now?

Be that as it may, I must give them credit where credit is due: my \'06 NYRA travel mug survived almost daily use until yesterday. Its lifespan far exceeded my expectations.

Richiebee, If I remember right, when the BC is on the east coast,  most of the east coast tracks have always run several races timed to go off between the BC post times. They usually end their cards about about an hour before the Classic. Looks like the same thing is happening this year.
I like the non-BC races on BC day...provides action between the 45 minute plus BC post times, less time for beers, and occasionally provides some funds to lose on the next inscrutable BC race. Asfufh

Asfufh:

Without having the facts in front of me, I want to say that this is the
first time I have seen NYRA\'s live racing overlap with BC races past the first or
second BC Race. To reiterate, at least Aq could have eliminated the first 2
(non-stake races) and eliminated 1 hour of the overlap with the BC races.

And by the way, IMO BAD JOB NYRA with the timing of the filing of the Bankruptcy.

I\'m OK with the \"action guys\" who want to take a few extra shots on Racing\'s biggest day.

To me however, its kind of like throwing a plate of weenies and burgers
out on the table next to your Thanksgiving turkey.

Best of luck in all of your wagers tomorrow asfufh. For me 8 will be
enough (actually 6, the Juvie races may be too tough for me. I really don\'t
know if I like it that they run the Juvie races consecutively).

richiebee, Fwiw, I looked back in my downloaded TGreport files for 2005 and found 2 ThoroQuick reports showing full cards for CRC and LRL on BC day 2005...might have been more.
You may be right about NYRA...I really can\'t recall if NYRA ever scheduled races to run concurrently with BC races.
Hope you croaked them yesterday. I did ok for once. Asfufh
