The Classic has to start with Bernadini/Invasor. If one of them run his race, with the weight allowance and decent post, either is tough.
But, we all remember those that did not run their race in the classic.
Aptitude, I thought, was a lock, he\'s still running
In 99, there were several nice horses that did not run, Awakamatel, Behrens, General Challenge.
In 2000, Tiznow ran his race again when I thought he would bounce.
The negatives of Bernadini are his lack of rest, his lack of testing in big fields, older horses??? Anything else
Invasor, also looks good has rest, never runs a bad race.
Perhaps Post Position and pace will clear this up some more, but I hate knowing the two favorites are unbeatable. Somebody help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else wonder if Strong Contender might not be cycling back to that negative 3? I dont\' know what he earned for his last but I\'d guess maybe a 0 to 1 neg. Nice spacing since the Super Derby. My gut tells me to make him show me but he could be the one overlooked here that\'s fast enough to contend on his best.
One problem I have is with all of the on the pace horses in here.
Part of me sees a wire to wire winner or a dead closer.
I would be very worrieed about David Junior. I was very impressed with his Dubai race. His connections had been pointing to that race since last year and after the race, their stated goal was the the Classic. He destoyed the TIN MAN whom I would guess runs about a grass 1 or 0. They\'ve deliberately left him out of Euro races to train up to the Classic just as they did with the Dubai race, and I have to think they have prepared for his switch to dirt by passing up all the Euro turf races.
