yet ANOTHER blow into horse racing... BG Cat retired today because of a fracture... this is horrible
it\'s not horrible, he wasn\'t retired because of a fracture, it\'s not a blow to the sport
site says its a fractured right hind pasture...
I had a gut feeling while looking at Bluegrass Cat\'s sheet for saturday that not so much that he was going tpl k , but that if he didn\'t run another new top next he probably has a serious physical problem of some kind and his sheet also reminded me that of a 4 yo + up horse . I was mildly surprised BGC didn\'t receive more time off after the KY Derby but then again , I\'m not an expert horseman - but I did stay at an Embassy Suite Express last night ...
\"We don\'t know yet whether it\'s going to require surgery or not, but at this stage of his career it will be a retirement situation,\" Pletcher said.
I would view this less as a retirement and more as a job transfer to the shed. It seems there is little chance of doing anything else on the track to add more value. Even at 100%, what would be the point of duking it out with Super Frolic for 3rd or 4th in the BC?
A few months back, after I wildly speculated in this forum on a betting coup on BG Cat in the Ky derby, it was pointed out that a win in itself would be a huge windfall for WinStar. Well I guess you can learn something every day as long as you don\'t believe everything that you think.
these posts are to funny. heres a horse that won 3 major stakes. 3 sorry if someone said to me you can keep the horse running and win maybe up to another 3 million doallars or lets go to stud and you can make that in the first year and maybe 40 million over his lifetime. i would walk the horse to the studfarm myself. he is a racehorse yes. but he is also an asset. How much were they offered for LIF? lets get back to handycapping and claiming horses.
Flushed, share your sentiments on where and when Pletcher seems to fair well lately.
Also tend to agree that Bluegrass Cat was not Handicap Horse material. He was precocious and was flattered in the Triple Crown series by circumstances. Have already voiced my opinion of his Career Score in the Haskell.
However, if snakebit Super Frolic can ever get a ride and a break he can compete with the horses out there. Unfortunately he just hasn\'t caught much of a break. Heads up with equal luck he would have easily disposed of Bluegrass Cat and I think on his A Cycle he\'ll outfinish Bernardini.
I said it first.
