It also appears as though he was running with a \"Canteloupe\" size tumor for the majority of his 4 year old campaign. To all that slammed him on this board - How fast have you ever run with cancer?

Very sad to hear about the prognosis.  In addition to the spleen its spread to his backbone, reportedly the size of a football, and 2 more in his abdomen.  He has anywhere from a week to a month to live. He will be sent back to his stall where he will live out the remainder of his days.

Northern Cal fans will always have pleasant memories of his short but brilliant career.  I\'m sure they will do right by him, and will not let him suffer once it advances. Although I saw him beat an overmatched field when I saw him run, it was still a thrill to watch him in action.

Hearing the latest news is a terrible way to start a weekend. My mother has dealt with cancer 3 times,  twice with breast cancer,  and has fought it off each time.  My Grandfather was lost to cancer 7 years ago. I know first hand how tough it is to see loved ones and friends deal with this insidious disease.  Rest comfortably friend, you will be remembered as a brave champion.

Very tough break. The Vet says he probably ran with the cancer in the Calder Race, though thought he was vulnerable there for a lot of reasons. Appears to be a fast growning cancer so how long hes had it is speculative. He was a great 3YO sprinter. Now both he and his toughest competition, \"Egghead\", will both be too soon gone. Was hoping for another race or two from him against the older horses but no one can take that winning streak he had away from him. He gets to keep that.
