Title: Contest Rules
Post by: brokerstip on July 28, 2006, 07:56:37 AM
Question:

1st at Delmar:

TG\'s didn\'t have figure for SP debut. Is that considered a \'relevant\' figure?
If so, then is that race eliminated?

Thanks

Bob

Yes, the race is eliminated. This was a case we did not plan for, but will take into account going forward.

Contest Rule:  \"If there are fewer than three figures for a given horse, average up what is there.\"

Changing the rules already after the fact!!!

This is not changing the rules. We did not assign a number to this horse\'s 1st out race - an open length maiden win. The last two races were similar in both camps.

the way to phrase that rule is \"Only average of \'same\' races.

The horse in question had two figs entered for TG and three figs entered for Rag, thus the difference.  If I would have averaged just the two figures for Rag, you would have seen the different result

Not changing the rules, just a clarification

Why not submit a fig for a race?  Didn\'t like the outcome???  Why did Rags do it and not you?  It is already getting very vague after one day!!!!

go to the Redroom and download the first race at Del Mar and you will understand what happened

Who is the arbiter of these new mid-contest rules?  Did the rags representative agree to this outcome or is it just you calling the shots?

A figure was not assigned to the race because there wasn\'t enough data to confidently  make a figure. This was a 2YO race with 1st time starters. We do not arbitrarily tie one race to another or assume variants remain the same throughout a day. Situations like this have been discussed more than once on this site.

I pointed out this anomaly yesterday before the race and it was clarified BEFORE the race.Read the string, the race can\'t be counted.

of course the race can\'t be used and they\'ll be others like it . i didn\'t see what the problem was - this fall\'s well with-in the parameters of the study guide lines  ...  it\'s a common sense call , using this type of race would add no meaningfull value in an academic sense , and to come up w / a number for study stake is not a viable idea - specially if tg already has decided for good reason not to make figures for a given race .
