Title: Delmar 8 TH
Post by: docicu3 on July 26, 2006, 12:07:40 AM

As usual the board is chock full of interesting banter but the pattern lately has been to limit the racing observations to Fri-Sat every week.  Obviously this has to do with ROTW impressions and stakes races but sometimes an interesting pattern is not commented on because the race was run in the middle of the week.  I am hoping that Delmar and Saratoga will provide enough fodder for debate aside from the \"Hatfields and McCoys\" Holywar we are all so keenly aware of.....

The 8 TH at Delmar (8.5 F \"MSW56K\" on turf) is an interesting opportunity tomorrow as I see the possibility of vulnerable favorites again on the grass at Delmar.  The pattern for #3 A BIG TODO (30-1 ML) is one of my favorites where a horse is slowly moving forward a half to a point just about every race by small increments appearing to be ready for a big forward move.

BigTo\'do top an -11 1/2 against Turf Time -8 1/4 both at Hollywood against Big Mistake 7 1/4 on dirt explains some of the longer odds combined with Jockey Strength and the presence of ObiWan Canini with Turf Time but larger Goliaths have been slain......

I will put my green where my fingers talk at this price while keying this turf tested 3 year old instead of the first time turf ML favorite (#10 Big Mistake) and 5 lb heavier(#2 Turf Time).

The likelyhood that I am completely misreading this is certainly high not to mention that the racing Gods will probably have him second by a nose tomorrow only to win next time out at a much smaller price..... Any thoughts or too much for a Tuesday night/Wed AM.....

Goodluck to our heroes in the \"Crusades\" tomorrow or Thursday....whenever the talking(subjective) stops and the objective begins....

On the whole I thought the horse did okay given the odds.....

If you were bold enough to play the field in the first two spots on the tri you still made good money.

The show price ($16.40) wasn\'t bad for the circumstance......200 across the board still made a nice profit...

I hope the thoughts were not a waste of space here....

Doc,

\"I hope the thoughts were not a waste of space here....\"

Quite the contrary!

Your thought process and analysis were excellent.
