Title: "ThreePeat"
Post by: NoCarolinaTony on July 23, 2006, 08:11:33 AM
Of the 225 who qualified for the NHC in 2005, only 62 made it back in 2006. When the dust settled after the last of the 15 mandatory contest races at RD yesterday, it became clear that at least one of those 62 will be back for the 3rd time in a row. Congrats go out to Mall for qualiying again. It may have been the firewater talking, but I understand that you were telling people after the contest something along the lines that you were anticipating a peak effort next Jan, since it would be the equivalent of your third race after a more than 50 yr layoff. My advice is that you keep a regular workout schedule between now and then, as I have every intention of joining you there to offer something in the way of a little \"friendly\" competition.

I\'m Glad we didn\'t stay around trying to Beat Giacomo yesterday. I have more money in my pocket today.

Congrats Mel, I guess this means no Stampede Park trip this year!

Thks guys. I hope & fully expect to see both of you in Jan, & which is one reason I\'m not planning to make too many changes in my contest schedule. In fact, I already sent, or tried to send, Bill Spillane an email to see if he will be in town for the big contest at Kee this Sat. If anyone knows his new email address or could provide his telephone no., I\'d appreciate it. As for my bout with the demon rum, I\'m blaming it on the hr plus Mr Ed at River took to break the tie, followed by the hr plus it took for the checks.

P.S. jmetro: As much as I wanted to return, I had to miss the June Stampede contest this yr, but I\'m actually considering returning for the nothing-to-do with horseracing Calgary Stampede, which is itself supposed to be an amazing spectacle. It really is quite a place to see, & I\'m not sure the temp ever gets much above 80 at any point in the summer.
