Title: Arlington Million
Post by: 1st time lasix on July 21, 2006, 07:33:17 AM
Have accepted a gracious invitation to the clubhouse for Arlington Million weekend from a regional owner/breeder. All the glitzy parties and hotel suites are booked. They say it is a beautiful facility and I am excited to see it for the first time. Would like to take my host to the nicest restaurant/bar in the area after race day one evening....any Arlinton players have a suggestion?

arlington is not a hub for great restaurants, unforutnately.  You\'ll have to go almost back to OHare for a Morton\'s, Carlucci\'s, Gibson\'s...come to think of it, if you are staying at a nice hotel you are probably out that way anyway.  If you ar ein the city that night...take your pick - it\'s a helluva town for restaurants.

I recommend BOB CHINN\'S on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling, Illinois.  Not far from Arlington this is one of the finest fish and seafood places in the entire Midwest.  Their Alaskan King Crab Legs, Lobster, or Onaga or Opaca Paca flown in from Hawaii is as good as it gets.

It is on Milwaukee, just south of Dundee Road on the East side of the street.  Not 30 minutes from the track and sensational.

Agreed Chinn\'s is an excellent choice.  Besides the great seafood, good steaks as well.  The Mai Tais are a must have.

Agree on Bob Chinn\'s, only drawback is usually packed and no reservations.  Would also recommend Palm Court in Arlington Heights (intersection of Palatine and Arlington Heights), less than 10 minutes from track.

FTL,

A bond trader friend on GKST in the Sears building suggests:

Morton\'s......53 south to Higgins Road Exit...make right to Machim (sp) look for IKEA and Mortons\' is right there.
The Bistro....Lake Cook Road to Rte 14. North of 14 for 1 1/2 miles.
Entourage.....Near Morton\'s and has a nice bar. He wouldn\'t eat there but likes
              the drinking atmpsphere.
