Only seen the sheets,haven\'t read the synopsis yet,but this is a GREAT race to handicap.
Yes it is.
Agree with most of the ROTW analysis. I will use SPIDER POWER underneath as I expect a jump up from McLaughlin, especially considering that the race is at Colonial. Explanation not required here.
Doesn\'t hurt that colt has inside post again and GO BETWEEN jumped up to a nice # with similar pattern going into last. At 12-1 or better, SPIDER POWER doesn\'t have to be much to get into the exotics with this bunch.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
I\'ll take Go Between and Gomez.............................
Seaside Retreat:not prepped for this race, not best managed by whoever is calling shots, like many in race,hes\'late and wide. M.L. is bet against
Go Between:very game last,Gomez must stay close to rail, ran well at G.P.,has some tactical speed. M.L. is square.
Spider Power: only rested horse, got the \"Santos\" taken up trip, M.L. is generous enough to put in exotics.slow G.P.#\'s
Manchu Prince: closer,slow and wide,slow G.P.#
Kip Deville: lone early, better post, better jock, better dutrow(whatever that means),9/2 is about right for stealing race.Problem is he\'ll likely be 5/2
Proudinsky:will never get the same trip shown in Arl. race,8/1 is way too low for a horse that wasn\'t steered for this race, 15/1 or up,save at bottom of exotic
Roman Dynasty: \"evenly\" is only word to describe last,no punch,no urge to improve, bad post, stays w/Luzzi,12/1 very appetizing,don\'t like this animal,PROBABLE WINNER!!!
Yate\'s Black CAT:poor G.P.,bad post,7 1/2 point move in 3 months,did I mention 20/1 M.L.? don\'t like em,PROBABLE EXOTIC FINISH!
All I got is...Go Betwwen, good jock,better post,good race atG.P.
Dutrow: better jock,lone early,better post
All Button?, for the rest?-maybeeee
Davidrex only thing I will differ with on your analysis is I know for a fact Seaside Retreat Was absolutely prepped and pointed for this race. Thats why he stayed at home in his last start the Charlie Barley. He is primed to fire a big one today and if he comes back to his top in the Lanes End he will be a major player here.
With all due respect,General:
The owner put this horse in the Derby for personal/social reasons only
Now Mr. Farish is snuggling up with the Va. horsey set.
To top it offff:I think his wife is a C.I.A. operative.shhh
tough race.
go between makes sense. gomez and the rail for a good part of the race.
spider power is a touch slow coming in, but looks to want the 10f, and has a VERY hot trainer. stuck with santos, but he\'s so bad that nobody puts him on any tickets anymore. his turf ROI has gone through the roof.
manchu prince needs a fast pace and a clear run. both are not likely, but - c. velasquez does some remarkable things in graded stakes races. longshot stab.
roman dynasty probably shows a bit more speed here. can\'t breed them any better than this to go long on turf. gets better with age. at this stage, looks about the same as go between to me.
i will have these four on my tickets. have to see how the board looks before i put together a play.
Guess thats why hes\' a general, when your rite -your rite
Good work on ROTW. The 1,Seaside Retreat, was clearly best but the exacta was cold. The General\'s post put me on the exacta.
Congrats to those of you who did well here myself this is the one race I played yesterday that I felt really confident in. Agree with you Spa if Seaside Retreat would have had a little better racing Luck he may have got the money. It will be interesting to see what kind of # the top 2 get here.
Good Luck THe General
Disobeyed a direct order and didn\'t cash
Its to the brig for me!
Michel D.:
I\'m still reeling over Santos\' ride. SPIDER POWER was easily second best in this one, but Santos finds ways to get into trouble. It puzzles me as to why Jara was not on this horse unless he was stuck on GO DEPUTY in N.Y.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
JB:
Jara may have stayed in NY for Go Deputy, but he got to ride 2 impressive looking Mott first time starters, both of whom broke their maidens with dominating performances.
With regards to the Va Derby, I am still intrigued by Kip DeVille. How would he have fared in yesterday\'s paceless Bowling Green? Is it possible Dutrow will try him on the main track at some point in the future?
