I really like Super Frolic. Like his breeding. Love that Rowdy Angel, Halo influence on the Dam side of the sire. At this point, everyone knows what kind of mare and race filly Lindsay Frolic was. Bet upon him yesterday and lost.
The striking thing about his past performances is 35 starts. Actually, 36 now. You got to love a horse with 36 starts. 36 starts says alot about a horse and you know Tgraph is not gonna take this one deep to the well of reserves. They are gonna pick their spots with a horse that is giving every indication of being hickory.
He came out of that Dubai Cup well. Course he didn\'t pick up a foot there. Many good horses have shipped in there though and not run a lick. It may be tougher for a Dubai Classic running horse to run a big race over there and then have to recover stateside. Super didn\'t have that scenario.
Super\'s race prior to that was the Donn. He didn\'t lift a foot there either but the surface was capricious wet. Some horses moved over it, some didn\'t. Super was one of the latter. Stated earlier that Super\'s action was impeded by the Hawthorne slop and thats still a firmly held opinion. This horse wants his feet beneath him to sustain his action.
Where do they take him next? When you have a good horse, you have options and its their decision to make. Those are nice decisions to have. If he were mine, I\'d be thinking about the Whitney/Woodward with Primary target being the Jockey Club Gold Cup. He\'s a 10 pole horse.
He did run game in the Pacific Classic last year, despite the bonehead ride from oversleeping, key workout missing, Kent Desormeaux so maybe they\'ll attempt to keep him in Cerin\'s backyard, book a top flight, instruction abiding jock (Scanning his P.P.\'s its pretty clear who that jock should be.) and try to win the Pacific Classic, which is the next major 10 pole race on the Season\'s Line Up. He\'ll be shipping East at some point though, suppose its a question of timing. The Pacific Classic is worth more, gives him another week vis a vie the Whitney and the Whitney/Woodward are only 9 marks. He would take to Saratoga though like a duck to water. His pedigree has some very nice Saratoga influence along the right branch. Hunch is he would LOVE Saratoga.
The meat of the matter, has Super Frolic ever ran at Churchill Downs? The Breeders Cup Classic is the big race, but the Dubai Surface was modeled after the Churchill surface and he did not fair especially well at Dubai. If Super has never raced at Churchill he may run well there, but he has shown a preference for some surfaces. Those preferences may be the key to taking down the big race.
