Title: Jerry?

Just have a contest between Thoro and Rags players and settle it once and for all. I\'m sure you can come up with a system.

Cong-- I have come up with a system, two, in fact. One was me vs. Friedman, which challenge I have made countless times, including from the stage at the DRF Expo. The other, more to the point, is the figure study that will be done during Saratoga and DMR this year-- not a betting study, a figure accuracy study.

By the way, in all seriousness, if you have read the level of posts on both boards, or followed the results of handicapping contests (congratulations to Mayer Kanter for just winning the Prairie Meadows contest, by the way), you must know what would happen in a contest between the users of both products.

Now THAT would be a 1-9 shot.

Jerry, why don\'t you invite players from both sides and have a showdown at Saratoga? I\'m sure you could set up an isolated area and a score board. I believe it would be the ultimate showdown.

...or just to end all of this foolishness, why not take 10 tracks, get the TG #s and the Rag #s for those tracks for the last year, get the results from those 10 tracks (all of this information is readily available) and see which product predicted more winning efforts at those tracks for that time period.

This idea was proposed by a certain Jesuit NASCAR fan about a month ago and makes too much sense to ever get done.

The female voice over on the Thorograph TV commercials (\"Thorograph and Thorograph dot com. Everything you need to win\") gives me a woody you can cut glass with (Sorry female posters/readers). Having said that I sure hope the voice does not belong to somebody\'s daughter, wife or mother.

Unless Len and Jerry do battle, I don\'t think it matters how you do it. That\'s the only way it would say anything. Doing this avg. the best of the last two or whatever it was is just silly. Is that what sheet reading is about now? Both do very well in the world of handicapping and both sides know this.

I\'m surprised anyone cares who is a better handicapper, Jerry or Len, TG cappers or Rags cappers.

The entire point of the exercise is to identify which data is more reliable/accurate. There are no ties here either as some seem to be suggesting.I believe the results will be very one sided.

Cong-- you think that\'s easy, you set it up. And get NYRA to let us put up a scoreboard in their backyard.

Kev-- it\'s not a handicapping contest, it\'s a figure study. In the long run, other things will wash out, but fast horses will beat slower horses.

Richie-- she\'s all of those things, married to the guy she\'s with in the commercials you see on TVG. He\'s Leary\'s dead cousin on Rescue Me now. And there were lots of reasons not to do it the way Tony mentioned, which I said at the time-- most of which have to do with the study being credible. The way they\'re going to do it, with everyone able to track and check results every step of the way, is the right way.

Miff-- the way you bust my ----s, I\'m glad to hear that. Of course, I\'m making an assumption.

i bet rags would gladly conceade bragging rights , no problem - but not market share  . someone over there figured it out - there will never be a handicapping contest ever between len and jerry   ... I\'ve probably said more than i should have about rags before , but i respect them - they\'re not being totally stupid about the whole thing   .
