Title: UNCLE VIC
Post by: davidrex on June 15, 2006, 07:31:55 AM
TVG has put Mr. stuffer on T.V. for all to see (and hear). He touts Browns\' like hes\' an in-law!
At first I didn\'t know which item was being touted until he started clamoring about a certain hoss that runs 4\'s routinely.
Ah,it was either T.G. or I was watching a re-run of a grade I review using Mr. Lens\' #s.
So what does the announcer/tout do??? Why he hits the early Pick-4 to the tune of $1300 for a buck ticket!!!(total outlay about 50 bucks)
So I\'m wondering; maybe Vic got hooked on T.G. in part because of some previously mentioned,in your face guy with a free product encounter some what like Delmar described few days ago??
This guy is the antithesis of Mr. Siegel on HRTV,and I love them both dearly.
Jeff, the compulsive intellectual, always advancing the breeding and\"heart\" of horses.Relying on visual history and info gleamed from being around horse people.
Vic ,with his shining positive attitude and fraternal co habitating with gamblers, track employees and his never ending reliance on speed figures.OURS!
These two personalities are part of what makes T.V. poker so popular;their not just talking heads.
Now if we could just get a few more of these Runyon characters together and televise a handicapping gig on T.V....EURECA!

Since you mention, TVG impressions after 1 week:

1) Generally good coverage of tracks large and small.

2) Frank Lyons sounds a lot like Joe Cocker.

3) What does the sponsor list say about the future of racing? The sponsor list in terms of advertising: (1) Quick cash no collateral predatory lenders (one of these features permanent child actor Gary Coleman saying, in a line funnier than any line he delivered on \"Different Strokes\" \"Then you can pay your bills and everyone will love you\"; (2) Male sexual performance enhancement products; (3) Personal mobility products.

Is this the demographic of the racing fan? Old, broke, impotent, crippled?

Not complaining though. TVG is just an afterthought, part of the package which allows me to follow the exploits of the team which currently has baseball\'s best record.

Good US Open this weekend. The killer rough meets the game\'s best player, who is coming off a layoff and has recently had problems keeping his booming drives on the fairway.

Very \'seedy\' sponsors.

But, then again, if Mother Teresa was working for them, they\'d have her drinking, smoking and releasing a pick 4 play at a track she knows nothing about in no time.

Mother Teresa\'a pick 4, exclusively on tvg!

David-- in fact, you are exactly right. Vic was one of the ones that Nagler started on TG back in the 80\'s.

Richie,

Jokes about Mother Theresa are not funny up on Fordham Road. But, the did have the \"NUN\" Pick 4 before. (ie NUN of their picks won).
