Title: Where are they now: Funny Cide
Post by: BitPlayer on May 22, 2006, 11:40:48 AM
In a sport that is constantly moaning about its inability to keep its big names around, I thought it was interesting that NBC couldn\'t be bothered to cover Funny Cide\'s appearance in the race that preceded the Preakness.

To the majority of the NBC audience, Funny Cide is about as relevant now as Ferdinand is. How about marking the 20th anniversary of that one\'s Derby win with a piece about his tragic story?

It won\'t be long before their 2006 hero becomes stale \"news\" to the hypocritical moralists at NBC and all their cronies in the mainstream media. It\'s a small step these days from World News Roundup to forgotten. When push comes to sell, they just don\'t care.

When some of these same network and industry people talk about Tradition , I don\'t think they  realize the average person doesn\'t want to know about it  - They\'ve already  figured this out - there is not going to be another Triple Crown Winner under the  current system and probably should not be .
