If Saratoga can be placed on the National Register of Historic Places before Magna gets hold of it (G-D forbid!), Frank won\'t be able to create a \"Gulfstream North\"!
Saratoga Race Course has been on the Historic Register for years.. Long time plant manager George Hathaway used the Register to prevent many proposed renovation changes over the last 15 years.
Don\'t mess with The Spa.
Santa Anita is a wonderful experience too, as a fan of the sport and its history. Just wish I could cash a ticket there. lol
I remember, fondly, when Keeneland\'s races were run in elegant silence, sans track announcer. Take nothing for granted.
From the NRoHP website...
\"Under Federal law, owners of private property listed in the National Register are free to maintain, manage, or dispose of their property as they choose provided that there is no Federal involvement. \"
As the Magna flack quoted in the bloodhorse article says in so many words, listing on the Nat\'l Register will not stop Stronach from doing whatever the hell he pleases with Santa Anita. Just as he will do whatever the hell he pleases with Saratoga should it fall into his grubby little paws. The key is stopping him from acquiring the NY franchise; if he does, the Saratoga Race Course many of us know and love dies. Guaranteed.
I don\'t like Frank Stronach. The Austrian Warriors (circa 15th century) were so bad they ran the Italians lietrally off the continent, hence the construction of Venizia...
Stronach is BAD for racing.
NYRA has done enough to damage the Spa. Each year my hometown track inches away from being a relaxing place to enjoy each day and is starting to feel like a carnival. We do not need another bad opinion from a man such as Stronach to ruin what has been a great place to visit each summer.
