Title: Jerry-Wood #
Post by: big18741 on April 11, 2006, 07:32:04 AM
This one is going to be controversial.Probably another Bob and John questioned # like in the Sham Stakes.

Beyer had the preps like this:

Wood-93 crawling
Ill-109
SA-108

Brisnet:

Wood-103
Ill-114
SA-104

Dr Roman Pf#\'s
Wood -60 best of the three
Ill-55
SA-51

This was the only two turner of the day.The wind had to be an issue. If you and Beyer aren\'t on the same page after factoring in path for Bob and John is it possible to put up the race#\'s and discuss? I can wait until Derby week, but I have a feeling this is one Beyer changes at some point.

Big,

What does Dr.Roman smoke? There may be debate about the Wood fig, but the Wood faster than the other two races?

Miff

No clue-maybe pace has something to do with his #? He really had the Aqueduct stakes fast:

Bayshore 78
Wood 60
Ill  55
SA   51

Beyer:

Bayshore 113
Wood 99 now?
Ill  109
SA 108

Brisnet:

Bayshore 112
Wood 103
Ill 114
SA 104

I think the Wood is going to be a very, very tough figure to make for a few reasons.

First, it was the only race around two turns.  Second, it was on a muddy track.  Third, I think it was an exceptionally fast pace.  And finally, noone outside the top three ran a lick.  Keyed Entry was thoroughly gassed after the race, no way he ran anywhere near his top.  Using just a final time rating, Jazil and Bob and John must have very close figures, with Keyed Entry close behind.

I would guess TGJB would settle on a lower figure than B and J has been earning with an _hp designation.  But no matter what happens, it is very tough for anyone making figures to be very confident in the numbers in my opinion.
