Title: Jerry - Dubai Run-up Question
Post by: bobphilo on April 01, 2006, 07:54:10 AM
Jerry, While you were a Nad al Sheba did you notice whether they have a run-up or time the races out of the gate. I noticed from the sectional timing that even in the sprint, they went the first 200 M (furlong) in over 13.4 sec and the follwing furlongs in just over 10 sec. was this due to a lack of run-up or just a result of how long it taks horses to get into gear, even with a run-up.

I didn\'t notice, and the start of that 6f race down a straightaway is in another time zone. Since it\'s the only race over that course (the only no-turn race) you end up doing it off the horses in just that race anyway, meaning time is effectively irrelevant, but I have taken off quite a bit compared to the routes the last 2 years (don\'t remember before that), so it\'s quite possible there is no runup, or a very short one.

Thanks Jerry,

I noticed the same thing for the routes as well, including the grass races. Maybe it\'s just a function of how horses accelerate, as well as run-up.
