I was going to bet on Superfly. Here\'s why-5th in Breeder\'s Cup, bred for the distance, ran a 2 in a sprint & a 4.2 in Breeder\'s Cup with potential for good forward movement as a 3 yo. 3rd in Champaigne to 2 horses with holes in them as 3yos going 1.25 miles. Full brother to stakes winning Andromeda\'s Hero, trained by a Derby winning trainer -Zito. I was expecting at least 30-1 and perhaps a lot better.
Instead the field is filled with Johnny come latelies like Itsallbouthechase, who ran 2nd in a minor stake at GP and wouldn\'t have been found with a telescope if he met the likes that Superfly ran 5th to in the Breeders Cup.
So, I\'ll be sitting out pool 1 and if Superfly makes it into pool 2, chances are it will be because of a good performance, so he\'ll be an underlay. Thanks a lot, panel!
Interesting take on Superfly. The kentcuky Oaks odds are up and I feel that there may be substanially more value in that pool than in the Derby Pool. here\'s why, Folklore is a huge favorite right now and her debut this year was less than stellar. I have always had doubts about her ability to go a mile and an eight also and because she will be prepping in Southern Cal with its dreadful concrete surfaces that break horses down, I would say its even money that she doesn\'t even make the race. Outside of Folklore and the field noone else is less than 16-1. May be some real value there.
Toppled..
You can your 30-1 on Superfly this minute at Bally\'s.. He\'s 20-1 at Wynn.
Today and tomorrow are days to get some Vegas Future Bets in as there are a host of Derby Trailers making starts in ALWs, the El Camino and Pasco this weekend: Music School (50-1), Wanna Runner (150-1!), R Loyal Man (60-1), etc..
