Title: Snowdrops in the Bayou
Post by: Sandreadis on January 13, 2006, 07:53:47 PM
Can anyone make a case against this mare in her last race before crossing the pond to the breeding shed? She despises the soft going and I\'m not that crazy about the pilot.Any opinions appreciated. Gracias

The FG web site lists the turf as yielding.Snowdrops has never run on a yielding turf course in 22 LT starts. Clement has scratched her numerous times under these conditions.Anybody down in the Bayou that can comment on the rain/turf conditions? She could be a bet against and I\'ve always found speed dangerous on yielding route races.

Not sure what site your looking at. Their turf is quite firm, like a putting green, actually. Here\'s the quote from their site: \"The turf course was rolled this morning and should also be in great shape for the Gr. III Bayou BC Handicap, as well as the other pair of turf races on the card.\" She might get beat, but not because of soft turf. With the scratch of Freei there appears to be a lack of pace in the race, therefore, Black Rock Road (#8) deserves some cosideration because of the paceless affair. Good Luck and God Bless.

thanks dana. I was on fairgroundsracecourse.com this morning and the turf was listed as yielding. it is now correctly listed as firm.
