I wish to congratulate the connections of St. Augustus.

Some trainer move, to take such a formidable charge into N.J. to break his maiden.

Dumb Jerry w/his thoro-pattern had Pletcher surrounded and all but vanquished.Lo and behold Houdini escapes death and succeeds in robbing the local bank on his way out of town.

True ,Pletcher wasn\'t scoring at the Spa 1st out and he ran in a big stake 2nd out,but really ,why not break your maiden in N.Y.?

Could all of the colts truly being pointed for this race have bounced? I wish I could answer yes but alas,I can\'t.

Me thinks the grapes have seeds, regardless of what the the super market ad says.

Awwww come on. I\'m no fan of this crook, but two of the 7 were coming off big tops, one was wayyy too slow and the Saint was only a pt or two slower than the rest of them. Risk a conviction over a $100k race, puhleeeze. Bitch when it\'s well deserved, but not here.

Please explain the drug testing controls in place at Calder. I will be brief.......there are none.

Also ask yourself this one question. Why does Calder, a place that is a reasonably major track or at least so this time of year, not offer a Pick-Six?

WM has gone South for the winter.

By the way, do you want to laugh? Cry? In Dave Grening\'s column in today\'s Racing Form, Grening does his pre-race poop on Aqueduct\'s 75k Garland of Roses sprint stake. He writes the following about the entry BANK AUDIT, who zoomed last out to a -1 ThoroGraph, a marked improvement from what was a tailing-off line:

GRENING: \"In the House Party, BANK AUDIT bounced back from a disappointing summer in which she finished fourth in the Ballerina and Gallant Bloom. Following the Gallant Bloom, BANK AUDIT was diagnosed with a pulled muscle in her back. According to trainer Frank LaBocetta Jr., BANK AUDIT was worked on by noted veterinarian Dr. Steve Allday. \"She trained great after that,\" LaBocetta said. \"She ran a great race. Hopefully, we covered what was bothering her.\"

Oh.

So... after being injected behind closed doors [unbeknownst to the public at large] BANK AUDIT runs a lifetime top. Pharmacology - cause and effect - trumps all.

Earlier in the meet, Calder had a daily guaranteed $100k pick 9, the carryover built very slowly and came close to being hit several times, before someone plucked the money before the break even mark. Surprisingly [ha,ha,ha] the wager didn\'t return.

They used to have a Pick-Six years ago but the same group of Players took the Pot down everytime so Track Mgmt took it away.

Not sure where the surprise is that Saint Augustus won the ROTW.

Using Brisnet Sheets, this horse was \"explosive.\"  Ever hear that term from the old Rag seminars of years ago?  Explosive horses have a tendency to explode once in awhile...lol...

He did the same thing to silver train a week before the BCup. All to familiar. Something is up.

If he did it the week before the BC and they have security testing measures in place then it was \"probably\" legal or perhaps just undetectable. However at a venue like Calder where they have zero pre-race security measures in place then who is drawing the line.....the Vet himself??

Keep in mind when playing Calder the aforementioned Pick Six example which was not so much one group of Players, but one Player, who may or may not have been betting on behalf of others. Hence they have not had a Pick Six in about ten years other than an occasional gimic.

Also at one point in time a local runner named Change of Venue ran third in 27 of 35 career starts. Once Mgmt implemented a Superfecta Change of Venue went off form and began to run forth.
