Just noticed that the Fall Highweight used to be open to 2 year olds (the inaugural running was won by a 2 y.o. filly named Comely). Years ago I saw a race that was for 2 y.o. and up, and it was fascinating. I think the NYRA should open up the Fall Highweight to 2 year olds again. With the higher weights, a 2 y.o. filly could be spotted 8 lengths worth of weight and still be assigned a weight that a jockey could make. It would also create some nice opportunities for those of us who believe weight matters.
Side Note -- the 1967 running of the Fall Highweight was won by Indulto (he was 4 at the time).
