IN CASE THIS WAS MISSED, JERRY BOSSERT OF THE NY DAILY NEWS REPORTED TODAY
THAT \"LEROY\" RAN WITH 2 ALUMINUM PADS YESTERDAY, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON WED WHEN THE ENTRIES WERE POSTED.
ANOTHER WAY TO GET NAILED IN A PICK 3,4,6, YADA YADA YADA
WHEN WILL NYRA FINALLY BE CHANGED?
Hey putz.. NYRA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RUNNING OF THE BREEDERS\' CUP.. NOTHING. It\'s the BC/NTRA\'s show 100%.
You have a complaint with the lack of announcement before Saturday of Leroi in alum. pads, blame someone responsible.. not NYRA.
I am not defending NYRA at all here but when \"Leroy\" was entered on Wed there was never any intention of him running in the aluminum pads it was only on friday when when the \"Aluminum Pads\" were taken off and Regular shoes put back on that it was discovered that Leroy could not Walk thats when the Aluminum Pads were put back on and the descision to run in them was made.
Funny thing (not so funny now) I knew this and never used Leroy in a Pic 3 or Pic 4 ticket and still missed them all.
THe General
Sort of off topic, but I thought that LeRoiDesAnimaux ran a huge race in defeat. I did not cash the race, but he really took it in both ends and still kept fighting to the finish. He was wide both turns. Challenged seriously early for the first time. After he dueled his early pursuers into submission, he fought gamely wiht the closers while the horses he ran with earlier were dead. The fact he did it in orthopedic shoes is all the more impressive.
All true SoCalMan2, but I think what you said just furthers the case for why you can\'t bet horses like Leroides, LITF, Ouija Board and other favorites (on Breeders Cup day).
There are more quality contenders, horses get pushed harder than they have previously and have to be better, even to contend, let alone win.
Leroides had something like 8 straight races where he got 1w1w trips. He (and the connections) should get no sympathy for finally having to work hard early in a race and lose some ground. But you are right, with the pace, trip and aluminimum pads, he ran very well. I would be willing to bet that he ran his second fastest figure ever in the race, faster than all of his wins except the Atto Mile. Artie Schiller ran a couple of \"0\'s\" before this and it would be hard to believe he bounced a lot and still won. Plus, AS saved all the ground on the rail. So I gotta believe Leroides ran well.
I think the major factor in his defeat was that he wasn\'t 100%. When it was announced he would RACE with aluminum pads, that said something.
Class,
Pads and the rank trip did not help for sure and was only beaten by the PERFECT trip AS got.I tossed him on the \"pads on\" angle and got burned.
miff,
I intended on passing the race when I got there because I think he\'s a pretty special horse. I came very close to betting against him when I heard the pad news, but I decided to just watch. I doubt I would have played the winner except possibly in exactas. I may have taken a small flyer on Gorella because she was coming off the dead rail turf at Keenland.
Class,
I used the filly 2nd and 3rd because of the dead rail at kee. I hit a $30tri if Leroi is out.Amazing until the pads on announcement is made, I\'m only using Leroi and AS 1st and 2nd over the filly, whipper and singletary, valixir.
Just another losing bet.
Class-
Just curious how was it to bet at Belmont at this years BC. Long lines etc or were they prepared well?
NC Tony
The Prix Moulin form was upheld very tightly suggesting Starcraft would\'ve won this race. Nice to be that rich.
NCT,
The lines were OK, but I had some specific complaints that were relevant to me. I don\'t mind dealing with tellers when I am betting win and place because it\'s quick and simple to call them out and check the ticket. When I\'m betting lots of combinations of exotics I prefer the machines because I can think while pressing the screen, see exactly what I have, turn the pages of my program and think some more etc... That\'s more difficult dealing with the tellers.
THey have a very unsophistcated group of players there on BC day. So I can see why they would want to stress an increase in the number of tellers a great deal. Most of the non-regulars would go into a coma at the machines. They did have a huge increase in tellers. More than enough to handle the betting load. However they also reduced the number of machines. There were still plenty of empty betting banks where they could have put the machines and satisfied both types of customers. Instead I often found myself being uncomfortable behind a few real beginners worrying about whether I would get to the teller/machine in time and whether or not he was going to screw up all the combinations I was calling out, whether I would miss some etc...
Everything worked out fine, but I think it could have been a little better.
I agree with CH - lines were managable, but the inexperience of the tellers made the wait long. You also had alot of novices using the machines so the lines there seemed to take forever. I did most of my betting via phone with Brisbet.
