Title: BC Main Track Bias
Post by: holybull95 on October 30, 2005, 02:15:41 PM
IMO a bias toward closers and pressers was evident fairly early in the card on Saturday at Belmont both for the win and exotics.  I changed some of my wagers prior to betting and was lucky enough to cash a few....

I beg to differ.  I think the track was just not speed favoring, like many two turn (mile) tracks are in the US.

The Distaff had tons of pace and set up perfectly for a closer.

IMO, the sprint was going to have a fast pace due to the smaller field, and TP nearly won it.

There was no speed in the classic and consequently the best stalker won.

Turf course was biased as soft turf favored those horses on or near the lead.

Again, if these races had been run at SAnita, or LoneStar, you could argue that a totally different outcome would have occurred.

Churchill next year should offer some fair play as well.

Till then

I thought the track was honest. Several horses that raced on the rail ran to their expected form (or better) and I\'m having trouble finding one that didn\'t. A few deep closers on the outside ran well, but I think they were mostly just the best horses.
