Title: The Juvenile Races
Post by: on October 28, 2005, 03:39:04 PM
Does anyone have any strong opinions on who the best closers are in either Juvenile race?

I\'ve been reviewing the PPs and charts for all the BC juvenile races and there\'s a pretty clear cut pattern of the races containing several speedy sprinters that are trying to stretch out. That has lead to a bunch of fast paces (way more often than is typcial for any random race). That has lead to reasonably high percentage of races being won from well off the pace. Not always of course, but more often than you would expect from a random sample of races. A few of the races were pretty clear pace collapses.

It looks to me like both juvenile races this year are loaded with speed/pressers. So it wouldn\'t shock me if we get two very fast paces tomorrow in races where a lot of horses are untested going that long. Granted, some of the major horses like First Samurai may be able to rate just off an win. But, I have to think that there\'s a pretty good chance that a few horses that look like contenders are going to get buried by fast paces if the pattern holds tomorrow. That might allow a bomb or two among the closers that don\'t look quite as good to sneak into the exotics at very good value.

Juv Filly - Knights Templar and Original Spin both look like they can come off the pace.

Juvenile - Ivan Denisovich, maybe the bomb Dr. Pleasure.

We all saw how Bling Bling crapped out today. Keep that in mind for those who raced against him tomorrow.

Could the reason for Too Much Bling crapping out today be more due to them trying to rate him going a mile when he is really a front running sprinter?

NCT,

I don\'t want to take this thread off on another CH tangent, but as fast as that pace looked in the Champagne, it was wind aided and IMHO the track was carrying speed. So I didn\'t like Bling Bling yesterday. I\'m not a big fan of Henny Hughes either. I don\'t think that effort was as big as it looks. Not saying he can\'t win, he just won\'t be on any of my tickets stretching out against another field with good early speed. My guess is that he\'s more of a VERY GOOD sprinter. Even if FS doesn\'t beat him, IMO someone will move forward enough to get the job done. Good luck today.
