I know this horse isn\'t running, so I don\'t know how many of you saw this running line in the pre- entries.
In Lord of the Game\'s first lifetime start, he ran in a 10K M Claimer at Hawthorne on the last day of the year. Breaking from the 12 box in a 12 horse field, LOG lead every step of the way under a 7 pound bug, eventually winning by 22 lengths at 6/1. He was claimed for the 10K.
LOG ran a TG 4, Beyer 89 in that first start. Not bad for 10K MCl going long.
This 10K claim earned $539,920 as a 4YO. The breeder of the horse, TGJB\'s friends at WinStar, were listed as co-owners with trainer James McMullen.
TGJB, anyone have any more details on this race? Was there only one claim in on this animal? How did it come to pass that he was put up for 10K? Sore horse? Crooked legged horse? Bowed tendon? I know quite a bit must have been written about this guy, I just missed it.
Lord of the Game-- bowed tendon. Elliot told me he was actually one of several they tried experimental stem cell treatment on, and it worked, but they didn\'t trust it to last, so they ran him for a tag-- I talked about this in the Haw Gold Cup ROTW, I think. I think all 10 or so they did it with made it back to the races with healthy looking tendons.
Thanks, TGJB.
I guess my next question would be how they ended up with so many bowed tendons, but its not important.
his half bro by storm cat goes in the stakes tomorrow for pletcher/jr. winstar kept this one.
and the half bro wins at 4-1 for pletcher/jr. nice horse.
Value? don\'t think it was in this case.
