Title: One and Done
Post by: richiebee on October 27, 2005, 06:28:34 AM
The idea of this thread is to name, without explanation or prevarication, the animal you think will win each BC race.

BC Juv Fillies: Ex Caelis
BC Juvenile:    First Samurai
BC FM Turf:     Wonder Again
BC Sprint:      Wildcat Heir
BC Mile:        Valixir
BC Distaff:     In the Gold
BC Turf:        Bago
BC Classic:     Borrego

FYI,a certain online wagering site is offering 7% rebate on BC wagers and a $1 Pick Six w/payoff capped at $750,00 on BC.

Just remember, no matter what happens Saturday (a) there are hundreds of millions of people in China who could care less and (b) barring an appearance by NYRA in Bankruptcy Court, they will be racing in Ozone Park on Wednesday.

Class:

  \"For firm/good {no shot} no bias, etc\"

   Prevarication, plain and simple.

Surprised your picks are a little chalky, but best of luck my friend.

richiebee,

I\'m not going to bet any of those \"chalky\" horses except perhaps in exotics because they will be underlays. In fact, I\'m probably going to bet against a few of them. That\'s just my appraisal for who the most likely winner is.

If the turf winds up being softer, I would substitute Bago for Azamour and probably Wonder Again for Wend. We\'ll know Saturday. They are close in my mind to begin with anyway.

I could also easily substitute Happy Ticket or Ashado for Stellar Jayne.
iF you put a gun to my head, I\'d probably take Ashado, but IMO if she has any edge over these it\'s so darn small I can hardly find it. IMO, she\'s a clear underlay. She\'s overrated now and she was overrated last year. There just isn\'t a \"really good\" filly around (Azeri went into the Classic last year).

good luck.

CH---

Assuming we have an improving 3yo filly on our hands who has shown class at 2 and 3 and loves one turn racing at Belmont, why not IN THE GOLD???

Zito has done well before as a layoff trainer.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Juvenile Fillies - Folklore
Juvenile Colts - Private Vow
F & M Turf - Wend (soft, Wonder Again)
Sprint - Wildcat Heir
Mile - Whipper
Distaff - Ashado
Turf - Azamour
Classic - Saint Liam (my son\'s name, so if I don\'t pick this, I don\'t get to come home)

P.S.  Thanks to all posters for your insightful words, this is my first post and I\'ve really enjoyed reading everyone\'s thoughts, no matter how wrong they may prove to be after the races!  Good luck to you all.

Joe,

I wouldn\'t be surprised if she won. I rate her a bit below the older fillies. I\'m not a big fan of Zito\'s. I never seem to be able to get his horses right. When I think they are ready to fire a big one, they throw in a dud and vice versa. So I usually just draw an X through the PPs and pretend they are scratched. :-)

IMO that\'s one of the most wide open races. That\'s why I think Ashado is a pretty clear underlay at what could be solid favoritism. I could even see the Mott 3YO firing a better shot than last time out... not to mention Society Selection etc...

Sometimes all it takes on days like this is one.  Couldn\'t have come up with this one without the TG sheets.  I did not buy Jerry\'s seminar this year just the pre-entry sheets.  I can\'t wait to check the red board room to read what Jerry\'s comments were for Pleasant Home.
