I saw a few comments bemoaning the loss of this clash of the titans, and I would just like to remind the board that they can still certainly compare their 2 scores, regardless of who else enters.
maybe it\'ll even turn into the \'89 preakness.
This is correct. It also applies to your comments about people \'taking advantage\' of posting late when their entries will be effectively \'time stamped\' based on when they post, which would be factored in. HP
The 89 Preakness...another one Goer shouldn\'t have lost. He went by Sunday Silence on the turn like he was on cruise control. Day got patient and let Sunday come to him and got himself pinned down on the rail. Even yanked Goers head over so he could look Sunday Man in the Eye. Sunday pulled a nose in front at the wire but before they hit the turn Goer was back on top. The Belmont was a foregone conclusion. But I took a bath on the Classic too. I hate Pat Day. I like it when he rides for Lukas.
lol
The DRF has a thing goin called \"vote for the best horse not to win the Triple Crown\". I have a nice list many of mine aren\'t even on theirs: Native Dancer, Damascus, Spectacular Bid, Risen Star, Easy Goer.
Goer was a helluva lot closer to winning the thing than Sunday Man.
Tabitha:
Your list is right on EXCEPT for Easy Goer,
and I loved him! Big knock on him was he
couldn\'t win outside NY. Considering his
talent, and his connections, he under-achieved throughout his career. My pick
for the best not to win the Triple Crown?
DR. Fager...The BEST horse to race in the
last 50 years; his connections didn\'t believe
in racing in the classics!
This horse ran his eyeballs out in the preakness and the B.C. classic he got beat because of Day ,P.Val suckered him into going to the rail then he leaned on him down the str .in the B.C.Classic I rarely have seen any horse unleash the rally he did ,comming up just short .Gulfstream is not really a track conducive to closers ,many horses hit the stretch on the lead and stay there .In the Churchill efforts he just got beat .All credit to SS but EG was one great horse .Forego never won the TC but deserves credit .He beat em\' all carring a load all the time.Alysheba deserves some credit as well.
Easy Goer was just a star crossed horse is all. The best to not be fully appreciated in my opinion. He died young. Probably wasn\'t as successful a stallion as everyone hoped. But the greatest tragedy I ever saw was that Classic. Watch it closely and focus on Goer. I\'ve never seen so much subtle trouble in my life. Crazy break, Split Run. What a gas tank that animal had. And you gotta wonder when does cancer jump up and start to weaken an individual. Was it in him when he was racing? I know four years passed. I just don\'t know. I wish we could have seen him with Cordero riding is all. Pat Day has a way of finding tough spots. Unless he\'s on a Lukas horse. But I still bet against them...lol
Goer caught mud in the Derby as he did in the Juvenile there at Churchill. He was 12 lengths better than his stablemate and he was life and death to nose him in the Derby.
Hey opinions are what make for a Tote Board. And I\'m fully aware the animal I say was better lost 3 of 4 to his rival. Thats a tough statistic to argue against. But I\'m not dissuaded in the least.
