Just watched the Arc and no doubt about it the Race Call was THE WORST IN HISTORY.
Granted in Euro style racing with bunched fields, burst home finishes and courses that start somewhere behind the iron curtain things are little tougher to follow. But when after listening to the call one comes away with the feeling the Race Caller was barking away in between chugs of his lager there really is no excuse. Seriously this was a total disgrace.
The hand ridden winner Hurricane Run received a call as being next to last and then received another call being declared the winner. Say what? What happened in between? Hard to tell with an mug-in-your-mouth.
Tabor and Co. are not afraid to take a chance and may bring this horse over for the WTC. Fabre who has won several WTC races, with Banks Hill the last time things were at Belmont knows the ropes in America. Should Hurricane Run come it would add a large amount of Int\'l flavor to WTC Day.
Just leave the Race Caller back there in the Pub.
This from DRf.com
>Plans are fluid. \"I haven\'t talked about the Breeders\' Cup Turf yet with Andre Fabre, but Hurricane Run will stay in training next year,\" Tabor said. \"I want to have fun with him.\"
If Hurricane Run comes stateside and wins the Turf, he should also win Horse of the Year. I know it is only one race in NA and some people have a problem with that, but I have a problem giving the award away to a bunch of undeserving American horses.
Other than Lost in the Fog nobody will have done anything out of the ordinary this year. An Arc/Turf Double as a three year old is extraordinary.
I think that is something we can all toast too.
Sounds like Battaglia called the race.
Which call did you hear? I was there and it was in French. Also, they use two announcers for the races, at least they did yesterday. I had never seen that before. They kind of tag teamed throughout each race.
