As impressive as Leroids Box Score may be, his trainer will enter the 05 Breeders Cup with something like a 3 for 60 lifetime mark in BC races.
Squirtie Squirt, Clownzapper, and ?
He saddled three consecutive beaten favorites in the BC Classic before the Zapper was victorious in 04.
From the \"mildly fascinating but not at all scientific\" department, a friend of mine told me that if you go back to the first BC in 1984, and placed a $2 win bet on every BC (all BC races, not just the Classic) starter that went off at 20-1 or more, you show a flat bet profit.
Would be interested to see what result if you back Arcanques out of the equation.
The \"?\" you were referring to was Starine; I believe she won the Filly and Mare Turf in 2002 at Arlington. Also, the 20-1 stat for the breeders cup is probably even better if you filter out the traditionally formful races, such as the Juvenile Fillies and Distaff.

Didn\'t One Dreamer win the Distaff at boxcars?? Stevens wire to wire I think.
Even more recently, Adoration (83.40) in 03 w/ P. Val, Unbridled Elaine (26.60) in 01 and Spain (113.80) in 2000. I don\'t think its accurate to call the Distaff \"formful\", at least not recently.
Addendum: Not Scientific
04 Breeders Cup Starters >20/1 =32
04 Winning Starters >20/1 = 2
Payoffs Better Talk Now (57.80) Wilko (58.60)
03 Breeders Cup Starters >20/1 =34
03 Winning Starters >20/1 = 3
Payoffs Action This Day (55.60), Cajun Beat (47.60)
Adoration (83.40)
Wow three whirlwind weeks of football and I already lose my short term racing memory. Thanks for the correction. I completely forgot about Adoration, maybe because in my mind racing in California does not exist, therefore leaving me to not consider the Cup in 03. My initial post was more to reveal Starine as Frankel\'s \"other\" Cup winner. The comment about the formful races was not exactly well researched. Although Unbridled Elaine would not qualify under the 20-1 rule, I still stand corrected. Even an ego-maniac can admit an oversight.
