I think Watchmakers ML is a little off
with regard to MAGIC WEISNER.
If he is 15-1, you can\'t ignore him.
Wisemans Ferry will almost certainly insure a legit pace and that last 1/4 mile is going to be like the twilight zone for alot of these
horses. I\'ve heard all about how early speed wins the Belmont but I can\'t help but think that if the pace isn\'t too slow, MAGIC WEISNER has a decent shot at a more than
decent price.
Whats this I hear about a friendly contest ?
We just post our BEL picks for saturday
and the winner gets free TG sheets for a year ?
Nunzio
Bet $1,000 any way you like. Try posting Friday (I think most will be done Friday). You get to spend time and if you win, you get to do a home run trot around your house, by yourself, with nobody watching. HP
You know what? Nunzio has a good idea, but he got a little carried away. Winner gets a comp account through the end of June, although if Patent or Soup wins it\'ll be hard to convince them it\'s a good idea to use it.
Jerry,
Does this mean there might be a position open for me in your marketing detpartment ;)?
Nunzio
Can anyone join the fun ?
sure, anybody can join.
maybe I\'ll scalp mine, if I win.
hey, HP ----
there\'s your prize, NOW it\'s a contest.
Supe, it\'s probably worth noting that the prize in the HP/THORO-GRAPH BELMONT STAKES DAY HANDICAPPING CONTEST now comes to you courtesy of one of America\'s greatest sportsman, a humble man who has risen to the apex (or right around there) of the U.S. figure making industry, a man who many believe to be generous to a fault, Jerry Brown.
Maybe you can get something like this going on the other board when you go back there. I suppose for now they will have to take a backseat in this kind of bulletin board innovation. Although there is no money involved in such pursuits, there is an awful lot of love, goodwill and prestige. HP
And a big THREE posts over there today. Man they are BURNING up the board with handicapping discussion. Then again, they probably have to be careful not to write anything too disturbing. HP
and how many posts involving handicapping discussion have we had over here?
please count them for me, rainman.
(you also might want to look up \'apex\')
do you still contend that jerry isn\'t hosting this contest on HIS board, w/HIS prize?
let me know when you\'ve figured which way you want to go on that one.
anyway, w/a prize, we should probably nail down some actual rules.
all entries must be in before late scratches.
entire $1000 must be bet --- leftovers are lost.
I just thought of something for the scratches:
maybe you want to designate a \'scratch race\' --- all the money from scratches in other races would be funneled into this \'scratch\' race and bet proportionately, according to how you already bet the race.
(you\'d probably want to designate the race you like best)
now, if scratches in the \'scratch\' race leave you w/no play there, I guess you\'re screwed, unless you want to designate an \'alternate scratch race\', but I don\'t know how involved you want to get w/this.
ps
later tonight, I will help you boost the post count here.
1: When is this idiot Superfreakicus going to be banned?
2: What happened to Patent\'s post?
crap, I forgot --- how do you want to handle scratches in multirace gimmicks (pick 3, etc.)?
same as the other scratches, or....?
Alydar,
Lets ahve a little fun with the contest & leave the BS aside. It\'ll be fun.
Nunzio
I don\'t care about scratches with 1000 you should have enough to get off .make your plays if you scratch tough luck ,if you make your selections carefully enough you should race anyway barring a catastrophe
Nunzio: \"Fun\" has no place here. The stated purpose of this board is combat. It is written in the charter. Seriously, I agree with Mall. HP versus David had some drama: a war of words followed by a result that gives us one winner and one loser. With so many people entering, it will turn into a circus. Ideally, there would be a match race on Saturday and an open race the next week.

TG--1. I\'ve got other plans--think Jim.
2. Something happened to a lot of posts, many of which were mine, which is why soup still thinks he\'s out for a stroll in the park.
JB: Can\'t you find the lost posts by doing an author search? That worked for me with Patent?
OK, let\'s get the scratch rules finalized. Either DP or HP should post the rules. Early scratches obviously nullify all bets involving the horse, but how about late scratches involving pk3 and pk4 wagers? I imagine all picks will be posted tomorrow evening?
Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers should be governed by the track rules, i.e, a scratch goes to the betting favorite.
I think HP or DP should post the rules, otherwise we will have ten different standards going into this thing.......at the track, late scratches in pk3 and pk4 wagers do not result in you getting the favorite; if you hit the other legs, you get a piece. I believe you are thinking of the pk6.
Scratches should all get handled the same way. If someone gets a pick 3 with a horse they didn\'t like (as would be the case if we go the \'scratch money goes to the favorite\' route) it sure doesn\'t indicate any skill with handicapping.
How about this: You can specify in your play where you want \'scratched\' money to go. This can apply in any bet I can think of. If you don\'t do specify, your remaining bets apply, and the money stays in your account (you don\'t \'lose\' it). No \'money goes to favorite\'. You have to make it happen, you can\'t back in.
In any event, just bet the thousand. I\'ll be posting tmw night. HP
I think HP and I were in agreement on these to begin with, but to clarify.
$1,000 -- bet it as you please on any or all of the 12 races on the Belmont card.
If you bet money on a horse or a combination that includes a scratched horse, the money goes back into your pool -- no alternate selections or anything like that.
If a DD, P3, P4, or P6 horse is scratched, you get the post time favorite or the conso payoff, whatever the track rules are.
If you don\'t bet all of your $1,000 (pre-scratches), then you lose whatever money you did not bet.
Entries are due by midnight Saturday EDT, to prevent any possibility that one can take advantage of the late scratches.
Prizes:
First Prize -- 5 sets of TG sheets
Second Prize -- 10 sets of TG sheets :)
I\'m betting all my $1,000 on Puzzlement!
Flying to NY on the red-eye. See everyone tomorrow on this board.
HP\'s and my posts crossed.
I will go along with HP on the scratch issue.
>>I\'m betting all my $1,000 on Puzzlement!
Pick an alternate he\'s scratched ;)

TG--Someone who is computer literate probably could, or someone who cares enough. At the point this becomes a meaningful point-by-point I\'ll worry about that. But we think the problem is solved, anyway.

TG--1. I\'ve got other plans--think Jim.
Does this mean, you plan to cansor his posts, lose every argument, then delete him afterward in frustration? That would be like Jim.
he\'s already done that --- what comes next?
re: contest
at this point, I\'m just betting the $ and praying none of my horses scratch --- you guys can add it any way you want.
also, I\'ll probably need leeway on the deadline, but it\'ll be well before late scratches.
love the prizes...hehehehehehehe....
Alydar,
OK, I get it, I\'ll stay out of the way.
With that said though, I will bet my mythical 1000 on two races.
500 to win on Gygistar in the 8th &
500 to win on Forbidden Apple in the 9th.
Good Luck.
Nunzio
Shush. The grownups are having a conversation.
On the first point, you should know better, and if you don\'t you will.
Typical - of course I did forget to add in....avoid every point when you know you will lose and change the subject as often as possible to deflect criticism.

TG--Are you at least smart enough to realize no-one is paying attention to you.
Jerry,
If so, why do you keep responding? Are you a nobody?
I\'m smart enough to know that Jim was right about you and that others agree. Your solution is to avoid the issues, insult them, censor their posts, then delete them.
The big bettors avoid you like the plague. You talk about several switching to TG? How about the multiples of that number that do the reverse? If your product is that good they would ignore your imaginary lies and pressure to use Ragozin and switch to your product in a heartbeat. That was a knee-slapper, people would rather fall to the pressure rather than have more $$ in their wallet.
You make me laugh. I think you have more value as an entertainer than a numbers-guy.
Jerry, Jr.
Picks for the contest:
$100 Ex box on Perf. Drift, Magic Weisner, and Sunday Break
$200 on Perf Drift Win
$100 Tri Perf. Drift, Magic Weisner, Sunday Break
$100 Tri Perf Drift, Sunday Break, Magic Weisner
I like a bet that takes a stand. You\'ve tossed War Emblem from all paying spots. Win or lose its a ballsy call and I like it.
There\'s even some precedent for it. War Emblem has either won or been an also ran. Maybe you\'re even playing the \"Arazi Angle\". Oh I forgot Arazi had his bone chips operated on. War Emblem has obviously run through his problems to this date but you never know when another chip is gonna shed. That is of course unless you\'re Cerebus.
Good Luck
