Back from a couple of days away, didn\'t look at the board until just now. I think you guys beat the rabbit issue way past dead.
Listen-- I\'ve been pretty tolerant with the general postings on this board, specifically with CH, but also with others. IT\'S A THORO-GRAPH BOARD-- I\'ll allow general posts about the game, and a few about other handicapping theories-- but only a few, and not repetitively. Beyerguy can tell you about a site where you can discuss pace at great length-- feel free to post the site info here, Craig.
Jimbo-- I\'ll take a look at the previous Shakespeare race when I get a chance, but a) it\'s pretty unlikely I could get that kind of race wrong (meaning, older grass horses with lots of previous grass numbers), and b) the horse in question is pretty lightly raced, whatever he ran can\'t be too much of a shock.
Hey Jerry,
I wasn\'t trying to get into the pace issue at all, like I said, I could care less that they ran a rabbit, or that Commentator can\'t stand pressure, or if Zito cheats. None of those issues are related to what I was trying to address. It is just that CtC, who apparently has comprehension troubles, kept turning back to those things.
This was, in my opinion, a black eye for racing, and could adversely affect all of us bettors in the long run. That was my only issue.
Beyerguy-- I understand, and I wasn\'t knocking you.
And my point was that serious horseplayers would serve the game and their own interests far better by focusing upon the covert activities such as hidden vet involvement, unannouced surgical procedures, fixed races, illegal medications and clandestine inter stable negotiations that are a far greater threat to the game and their personal interests than the intra stable rabbit considerations that stick out like a sore thumb and can\'t fool them.
Also noticed the Bellamania Travers fractional thread is down, so have to conclude it was 86\'d when I thought I may have blown the post. I don\'t know, to me the Travers was a very significant race for a number of reasons. It fully calls into question the validity of the Wood figure for Bellamy, because he had it all his own way from the 1 hole, and sets up an immediate question about the nature of the Travers figure. (The one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch concept) They came home like very ordinary horses upon the busy part of the track in the Travers yet the Kinsman connections think they galloped early. Personally, I believe they ran hard early. Even harder than the fractions indicate and that the clubhouse turn was deep. I think it was a reverse Wood day.
I guess discussing evidence that tends to indicate the two turn variant may not be the same as the one turn variant on the same day at the same track with a one race sample is off limits.

CTC,

I believe the unwritten rule is that these pace and trip issues are tolerated as part of the overall discussion (despite not being related to the product) unless the conclusion being promoted isn\'t consistent with the philosophy of the product or they become dominant. The real problem is how do you have a comprehensive conversation about any race, horse, or figure without going to places that aren\'t as welcome.

You should be banned from writing, period, and not just on this board.
