Wow. I commented on last weeks \'stay up\' where JV twice fouled the horse on the inside.
Today, the aptly named Cooking the Books gets put up on an acting job, where Preminger BARELY comes over once. Clear winner, the stay up won by a 1/2 length if that.
These guys are imbeciles.
I got shafted on that one as well,
1) while the other horse was tight there was no contact
2) the winner was going clear and the horse, even if interferred with still got second
3) bravo to mig for the pval acting job impersonation
4) thanks durkin for making it sound like you had a 100 on the second place horse
Guys,
I had no bet in the race, but geez, Mig\'s horse was knocked into the rail. Watching the replay, I thought it was 75/25 that the horse was coming down. I have no idea what you mean by \"even if interfered with, still got second\". So, if he gets interfered with and still finishes second, he shouldn\'t get moved up to first?
If you want to see bad calls by stewards, tune into Delmar. They have made a number of bad calls this summer. Completely unpredictable.
It\'s unfortunate when you have the best horse and he gets taken down, but as soon as I saw the head on it was pretty obvious the stewards would do something in this case. There\'s a little subjectivity in these decisions, but when you cross over into another horse\'s path before you are clear, they are pretty consistent about taking the horse down.
class, you must be dreaming. Did you see the race last week??
Objectively, that foul was 10x as bad, and it stayed.
I had no $ on the line in either case, I\'m an objective observer here. The stewards favor certain Jockeys/Owners , always have.
jimbo66, this is about consistency. You can make the case this was a foul, though I\'d call it a small one and it could have stayed easily.
Last weeks stay-up , where a fould occured 2x in the stretch, is the benchmark. If that stayed, theres no possible way this should have come down. Period.
BO,
I didn\'t see the race last week, but I thought this one was coming down.
Which day/race last week. I\'ll take a look at it.
BO,
i don\'t think you are seeing this one correctly. the winner did more than just \"barely\" come over. i\'m with jim - i made it 75% that the horse would come down. the call last week involving JR was confusing at best. i would imagine a horse in that situation comes down 95% of the time.
Aug 14th , 8th race
lol, I\'d like to hear how they justify leaving one up and taking one down. Maybe the angle of attack, or the clashing silks were to blame.
I watched the race, but I didn\'t get to see the head-on. It was tight, but I\'m not sure if there was any bumping. I couldn\'t tell.
Class, you may have a career as a New York Steward in your future!
I couldn\'t figure that rulling out either , CTB looked clearly and decisively beaten at that point - maybe it was one of those politically correct statements on the part of the stewards . The stewards and their supervisor should be summarily discharged for incompitence as a result of this one incident alone .
They don\'t like Coa or Domniguez in this state. It\'s gettin gpretty obvious with the stewards.
