Hi, First, I assume the distances for a given race are measured from the inside rail. Is this correct?
Second, does anyone know where one can find a complete listing of usa track layouts showing the 1/2 mile point for various race distances? (I\'m trying to determine the 1/2 mile point in relation to the first turn of races.) I tried searching the web with no success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Asfufh
Frankly, I don\'t know the exact point from which race distances are measured. You\'d have to talk to race track personnel. I would assume some point within the one path. On question two, it\'s unclear as to what you mean by the 1/2 point. Usually the 1/2 mile point refers to the 1/2 mile pole, which is the differs depending on the surface and where the finish line is.
HI TGAB, I\'m looking for the point where the horses have completed running 4 furlongs in any race and I think the 1/2 mile fractional times refer to the this point in the race ( usually in the 46 second range). I think the 1/2 mile pole refers to the distance left in any race to the finish line.Asfufh
