Title: To derby 1592

Chris,

Haven\'t got much response on your question about selecting Derby winner. What do you make of that?

Title: I guess its too early

Mark,

I am guessing that it is just too early for most people to start thinking about the Derby. Maybe during the next CD Derby Future book betting interest will pick up.

I don\'t have any strong opinion right now. I have liked Saarland since before the Champaign but the Gothom/Wood prep plan is typically the kiss of death unless the horse is Secretariat.

Repent looks solid but, if the guidelines have any predictive value, that 4 figure he earned as a 2yo is a big negative. I hope he continues to run well along with Siphonic, Came Home and the rest of the favorites who ran fast as 2yos last year. I will be looking for someone to upset them. The trick will be figuring out which horse that will be...

What do you guys think about Request for Parole?

I was looking for forward moves last out by both Pellirojo and Easyfromthegitgo, but both their last races looked disappointing.  They do have solid lines so far, but need some improvement in order to compete come derby time.

I don\'t think Siphonic or Came Home will be contenders come derby time, I havent seen any of Request for Paroles figs, so it\'s hard to comment, but I will definitely check him out in the Sprial Stakes.

Thanks for starting a new topic, anything other than that godawful bore below.  TG, is there any way to supress or ignore threads so we don\'t have to clog our screens up with that drivel?  OOOOO I can dig up a more insightful quote than you and I know more literay references!!!   *** YAWN ***

Treadhead, you can\'t figure out how to ignore a thread on this board? Your comments are...very insightful. HP

I can ignore a thread by not reading it, but what I can\'t do is prevent the clutter in the message listings created by an endlessly rambling thread.  That\'s what I was referring too.

As a side note, I just read on bloodhorse.com that Pelirojo has been injured and is off the TC trail.  Bummer....

No, not to talk about the derby, it\'s obviously way too early for that. Rather, it\'s time to talk about whether and how we can work together as a team to help CtC make the transition to the new Bd & become a functioning member of the handicapping community.

Sure, you know and I know that CtC was a very naughty boy at times & apparently even made a joke about aids, a definite no-no. But you have to admit that there were also times when he was lol funny and that he made occasional cogent observations when he was experiencing what estate lawyers call \"lucid intervals.\" But exactly how does one strip away the bad and assist a tortured soul which is crying out for help?

During the long debate you reference Treadhead, I was contacted by a psychiatrist horseplayer who had stumbled on the site in connection with his therapy work for a group of psychotic Weight Watchers. He claimed to be the source for Ziemba\'s assertion that the best way to cure compulsive gamblers is to improve their handicapping so they pick more winners. He also claimed to be expert in conducting handicapping \"interventions\" which take anywhere from 3 hrs to 3 days, and which also involve restraints and copious amounts of duct tape. In other words, this is not something I\'m going to be able to do on my own, so I\'m going to have to ask for a show of hands.

In the meantime, Treadhead, try to look on the positive side of things. The long debate which bored you could have been on what role the new \"jockey path\" info should play in one\'s handicapping, such as when you\'re trying to figure out why in god\'s name Ziadie would name never-in-the-money-before-in-his-life Caballero Segundo to ride Buckaroo in the 4th at GP today.

I\'m not so sure that the sub 6.0 fig as a 2yo is anything etched in stone by any stretch of the imagination. It\'s only since 98 I believe, that the first sub 6.0 2yo horses actually hit the Churchill starting gate, not a very large sample to say the least. I\'m approaching those with great caution.
