Title: People Wonder Why I Don't Take Vacations
Post by: TGJB on July 19, 2005, 11:53:43 AM
Man, what a mess you guys have made of my board.

1-- Jimbo-- I\'ll try to go back and read your questions again and get to them sometime today. I\'ll post the WUD and LITF races later.

2-- Millenium-- well, well. Another county heard from.

a) show me where I said the Blue Grass figure was based on High Limit\'s La. Derby. There were 3 routes that day, they all held together, as I recall there was only one horse in the BG that ran a new top, the winner. Go back and find the post where we attached the sheets for ALL THREE routes for the Kee day, and where I went through the explanation. (And by the way, one reason Andy did not have that race as big as Len and I is that he doesn\'t factor in ground loss, and the winner was very wide).

b) Not that it matters in the slightest to this conversation, but Cigar ran lots of negative numbers.

c) We will post the La. Derby later today, after I do Vicarage\'s most recent race. What all you guys who don\'t make figures keep failing to understand is that we use LOTS of info, not just the winner, and there is LOTS of info from LOTS of horses to look at afterward to determine whether the figures are right. Aside from how that race (and day) fell together seamlessly at the time (another situation where we posted all 3 routes), you will see that the figures have held up VERY well-- when you look at them, see how those sheets look if you add to the FG race.

d) I haven\'t seen the day yet, but I saw the race, and after adjusting for weight and ground, HL will get a figure about 2 1/2 points better than Golden Man, and only about 2 points worse than SK, WITHOUT making any adjustment for the off poorly. Looks can be deceiving-- for example, Summerly got about the same figure for running third in a contested pace in the Mother Goose that she earned in her EASY LEAD FG win, and much better than her Oaks win. \"Easy lead\" often means saving ground, which equals lengths. CH, drop it right now.

Delaware was great. We got a fair number of people to the Cantor event, and I got to meet some guys I hadn\'t met before. It was an excellent day of betting (Michael, big mistake not coming), I did very well, but not as well as the %*#$ who posted earlier, who not only crushed virtually every race (and we\'re not talking about favorites), and not only hit the Choose Six himself, but had the nerve to take 10% of my Choose Six play, so he ended up taking down more out of the pool than I did, while betting far less. As an added bonus, we all got to sweat off 10 pounds in the Cantor Tent in the 130 degree heat.

True story-- we got turned around coming in, and ended up parking at the far end of a packed parking lot, 400 yards from what I thought was the grandstand entrance. When we got to the building I realized we were in the casino. I went up to one of the uniformed employees to ask how I get to the racetrack.

She had to ask somebody else.

Yes, DEL was a feast for me and the other TGers this weekend. Unfortunately I didn\'t know Jerry before going down, so I couldn\'t have picked him out in a crowd if you paid me. Didn\'t catch the TG hat until meeting him at the IRS to cash the Choose Six. In addition to the Choose Six, I hit the pick 4s on both Saturday (3646) and Sunday (1399), with very modest investments of $96 and $90 each day. I\'ll take those $10,000+ weekends any time of the year.

Supposedly there are going to be $25k pools over the weekends while they try to promote this thing. Given that 3 of the 5 tickets were TG players, it could be a nice fat worm before the wager starts to spring up in other jurisdictions.

Welcome to racing at Delaware Park. LOL

How does the Choose Six work?

Had not been paying much attention to it.

Nocar-- you pick your own six races for a pick six, all the bets go into one pool. It\'s a very interesting strategic bet-- that matters more than handicapping.

Wow That is very interesting and makes for Great handicapping challenges and opportunities.  I hope other  Tracks pick up on this. Payouts are after last race of day I would guess. Do they also carryover if no one hits that day? Can pictue someday someone hits first six winners of day and has to wait for payout numbers after last race.

Thanks for the Info.

NC Tony:

Not only do you have to wait till after the last race to learn what your payoff is, I would imagine you would be rooting pretty hard against the chalk the last few races, hoping to decrease the overall # of winners...

Good luck at Colonial this weekend.
