OK, this is clearly red boarding, but did anyone else have Best Chum at 27-1? He was co-2nd fastest horse (9) on TG figures. Unbridle Me had an 8 and was 1-5. LLyods Here was the other fast horse. If you could get past Best Chum\'s 0-18 record, he was a clear bet.
I posted about this last night -- see below. Did you throw in the first timers for the exacta? It\'s just a perfect example of a big score that looking at the Racing Form or almost anything else besides TG would throw you off. I had him circled at the M/L of 12-1. After the scratches I thought he\'d be 7-1 tops. Just kept drifting up... HP
I bet him $20.00 win and place and a $20.00 exacta with Unbridle me on top of Best Chum. Was going to box BC,UM and Lloyd with \"all\" in the super, but chose not to. As it were, the value was in the Win (as opposed to the super). Place price was paltry considering UM was 3rd.
The super was weak compared to the tri. One thing I\'ve learned is that when I\'m aiming at 20-1 or more I\'m better off with win/exactas. Many times I\'ve made the mistake of whaling away on tris and coming away with nothing when the 20-1 longshot wins or comes second. Since I completely tossed the favorite and he came third (always!), it\'s been a valuable lesson. I played the longshot \"under\" in the exactas too, but at the last minute when I saw the exacta \"will pays\" I threw in a few boxes too. Congrats. HP
