Title: Ghostsprinters Boyish Figure & Goodbye to Housebuster
Post by: Chuckles_the_Clown2 on May 18, 2005, 10:51:51 AM
Apparently Frankel can\'t keep weight on Ghostsprinter:

\"I guess he\'s ready now,\" said Frankel, who reasoned that Ghostsprinter\'s leaner appearance on Monday \"might have been from the shipping. It\'s probably better bringing him back that he\'s not too heavy and let him put weight on as he races.\"

Sure, hes had 7 months to put weight on and hasn\'t, so now its time to Negative 5 him into muscle mass. Never mind that hole in the head drilling stuff.

Dutrow:

\"Dutrow is considering the Met because, he said, \"our horse is doing so good.\" Saint Liam has worked seven times since the Santa Anita Handicap, including a six-furlong drill in 1:11.17 on Saturday at Aqueduct.

Dutrow also thinks his horse could beat Ghostspinter.

\"I\'m not overly impressed with the horse even though he\'s supposed to be the best horse,\" Dutrow said. \"He\'s coming off a big, long break; I would certainly not be afraid to run against him at Belmont. Then again, the race in Kentucky, being two turns, might be safer for us. In the Met, you got to run from gate to wire, so I just don\'t know. No way we would be looking to duck any horse with Saint Liam.\"

The gaunlet is at least partially tossed by Dutrow:

\"I\'m not buying it Bobby. I\'m not buying you\'re Breeders Cup con game or your nose win over my horse when he wasn\'t tight\"

Bobby can\'t take this laying down can he?

Odds on GZ to miss the Met board?

Some horses stand out in a handicappers memory. Some treated them well and become lifetime favorites, others beat them like a drum and earned begrudging respect. Of the latter was Housebuster. Is it that long ago he won that six mark Hutchenson with me in the grandstand? Pre internet and I believe pre simulcasting.

The horse could flat out run. He beat Easy Goer in the Met Mile and almost won the thing. He missed one Breeders Cup sprint due to form issues and was retired due to injury in the following year\'s B.C. Sprint. Was that Sheik Abadou\'s year? Those seemed to be the only races he didn\'t win the laurels.

You were a gallant nemesis and one of the best I\'ve ever seen.

Yes, \"the Sheik\" got the best of him that day. But not many did.

He was as game as could be.

I feel a heaviness in my heart each time I hear about a great horse passing. This was another one where I got that feeling. I doubt I\'ll ever feel this way when the \'ol mother-in-law kicks it.

Good Luck,
