As persistently annoying as CH\'s posts had become about the subject of PACE, maybe now there will be some room made for that topic on this board. PACE made that race.
It\'s true that quite a few contenders (at least contenders as per TG) looked like they had similar running styles. The horses I figured to benefit from this were Afleet Alex and Wilko, so the \"P\" word was not entirely overlooked by this TG handicapper.
I admit I didn\'t think the stalking flight (guys like HFly (winner of the Kentucky Derby Mile despite having the wizard-like judge of \"P\" Jerry Bailey in the irons) and HLimit) would TOTALLY crap out the way they did (except for Closing Argument (?!? - he really ran an INCREDIBLE race!). It\'s hard to imagine that you could get the whole \"P\" thing right AND predict the big forward move Giacomo would need to win.
I also don\'t recall anything CH said as being particulary specific or useful here, and I certainly don\'t mind reading his posts...

JR,
I\'ve never understood why my posts on the impact of pace on race results and final time should be so annoying. Not all races are impacted to this extent. In fact, most aren\'t. However, not including pace in the discussion is almost like boxing fans not discussing punching power. Sometimes it doesn\'t matter. Sometimes it matters a bit. Sometimes it\'s practically the only thing that matters. Why not discuss it?
The key word in my comment was \"persistently\". I didn\'t have an issue with your argument. The delivery was just relentless. I believe you were just about banished from the board for using the \"P\" word. In hindsight, your comments on pace should not have been so casually dismissed.
