Title: Derby Flipped Over
Post by: Frost King on May 07, 2005, 06:56:22 PM
The only reason that Giacomo won is because the race flipped over! You horses on a suicide mission. As soon as I saw the 45 fraction, I said to my buddy that the winner was coming from the back. The race flipped over. Otherwise, Afleet Alex smokes them all, what a brutal trip the horse got today.

WHAT?????????

Afleet Alex got a very good trip.Every hole Jeremy Rose went for opened up.He didn\'t lose a lot of ground either. They showed the overhead view. That horse had no excuse-none.The pace helped him.A dream set up-he wasn\'t good enough. He tries-I\'ll give him that.

Frost King..

I agree with big18741.

Afleet Alex had no excuse at all.

Closing Argument was right up close to the hot pace the entire race, went wide around both turns, and was there at the end at 72-1.

For a Derby, Afleet Alex\'s trip was absolutely golden, the horse just came up empty.  It was a perfect situation for him and he was finished.  Rose might have moved him a hair too early, that\'s definently debatable.

With a second slower 1/2 mile (46.2-46.4), It\'s Bellamy Road and High Fly in a photo finish, Afleet Alex still 3rd.

Speaking of Closing Argument\'s race, he did not seem disadavantaged to me by only having two prep races this year (although I am no expert in these matters). Will be interesting to see how the preparation angle people discard his huge effort.  I suspect he actually ran a better fig than Giacomo did.
